Setzmaschine.

Typesetting machine.
It has already been proposed to build air setting machines in such a way that the setting bed swings about a point as close as possible to the discharge and the other end of the setting bed is given a reciprocating drive. In addition, it has been proposed with these air cookers to supply pulsating compressed air from below to the setting surface. It is sometimes proposed to supply the air in such a way that the resulting air pressure continuously decreases towards the end of discharge, and sometimes it has also been proposed to keep the resulting air pressure the same over the entire length of the bed. The resulting air pressure is composed of that which is generated by the movement of the bed and that which is pulsed from below.
It is also possible to supply air of constant pressure as a third pressure effect.
It has been found that, especially with coal that contains some moisture, and especially where the differences in the specific weight of the coal components are small, a very good setting effect can be achieved by letting the resulting air pressure increase after the discharge has ended . The drawing shows an embodiment of the invention, u. Between Fig. 1 shows the jig in longitudinal section, Fig. 2 shows a section along the line A-B and Fig. 3 shows a schematic representation of the air pressures. The coal is placed on the setting surface b at end a. The setting support is rotatably mounted around point c. At the other end of the bed, a crank drive engages and sets this part of the stove in a swinging motion.
The lower part of the jig is provided with individual chambers e1 to e7, which are ventilated from below with air

The throttle valves can be moved, for example, by a handlebar h which is set in an oscillating motion by a crank mechanism i and is connected to the individual throttle valves f by cranks k. The strength of the pulsating movement can be regulated by throttle valves g; In addition, further compressed air pulses are generated by the swinging up and down of the setting surface b in the chambers e1 to e7. The flaps f can be arranged in such a way that they never completely close off the chambers, so that a constant minimum pressure always acts on the seating area b from below.
The mode of action of the individual air pulses can be seen even more clearly from the schematic illustration according to FIG. 3. The line bl shows the air impulses generated by the setting surface through its oscillating movements, while the line a shows the constant, constantly acting air pressure.
The line C1 illustrates those air impulses which are generated by the flaps f. The resulting pressure is illustrated by the line dl. Finally, the mode of operation of the setting machine according to the invention will be given using a numerical example. In the case of coal with a grain size of 3 to 15 mm, the following average pressures were found in the individual chambers:

The layer height of the material to be processed on the setting machine was approximately 30 (end of feed) to 60 mm (end of discharge).
