Einrichtung zur Radioaktivierung von Flüssigkeiten.
EMI1.1

Device for radioactivation of liquids.
EMI1.1
According to the drawing, at the upper end of a cylinder vessel a there is a tube b with an inwardly opening spring-loaded valve c which is closed at normal pressure. The cylindrical vessel contains an air filter made of porous material at d and e and a radium cell at / which is filled with a mass that emits radium emanation. The lower end of the cylinder contains in a tube an outwardly opening spring-loaded valve (J and a safety valve h. The lower tube is connected to the suction part i of a water jet pump k.
The mode of operation of this device is as follows: the water, steam or air creates a vacuum in the suction part i, which first opens valve g and later valve c. When the vacuum increases, air enters the cylinder a through the pipe b via the valve c and passes through the filter d for cleaning and dedusting and gets into the radium cell-1, where it absorbs the emanation formed and through the valve via the filter e g enters the suction chamber i of the pump. From here, the air saturated with radium emanation is carried away by the water jet of the pump, and is intimately mixed with the water, the emanation dissolving in the water and being used for filling baths etc. with it.
To prevent the ingress of water when the pressure drops or the outflow of the jet pump is blocked, the valve g closes. For safety reasons, the safety valve h is also attached, which opens to the outside when there is a slight overpressure and protects the system from being flushed with water.
