Syne, hronmotor.

<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Syne, hronmotor.
The invention relates to a synchronous electric motor and its object is such a configuration that, despite the existing synchronization, low speeds are possible without the use of transmission gears and with smaller numbers of poles than with the known synchronous motors.
The synchronous speeds of the known synchronous motors are always in a simple one
Relationship to the frequency of the drive alternating current. For example, a two-pole motor has a synchronous minimum speed of one revolution per period of the alternating drive current; lower speeds were achieved by increasing the number of pole pairs, which resulted in an under-diversity of the synchronous ones
Speeds are obtained. If very low speeds are to be obtained, a very large number of poles is required, which results in a bulky construction which entails correspondingly high costs.
There are numerous technical areas of application in which synchronous speeds are very low
Size are required, for example for electrical clocks, television and video telegraph devices,
Talking machines u. Like. For which the subject invention is particularly suitable.
The invention consists essentially in that in the known synchronous motors in which
Stator and rotor are each provided with a group of poles arranged essentially at the same distance from each other, essentially the same pole arcs, the number of poles of the two pole groups are unequal and none of them forms a whole multiple of the others, all poles of the stator or rotor or both are simultaneously excited to the highest field strength by electrical impulses and the pole numbers and pole arcs are selected in such a way that when the rotor rotates with respect to the
Stator a permanent change in the sum of the total engaged pole surface takes place.
For example, the motor can have an eleven-pole stator and a nine-pole rotor, the smallest common multiple of these two numbers of poles is 99. When the motor is running, the interaction of the poles is comparable to a vernier effect, a coincidence between one stator and one
Rotor pole takes place after every 1/99 revolution. Correspondingly, the synchronous minimum speed of the rotor is 1/99 of the frequency of the electrical drive pulses.
In the drawing, the invention is illustrated schematically, for example, u. between shows:
1 A shows a longitudinal slot of a simple motor according to the invention, FIG. 1 shows a front view of the legs with the end plate removed, FIG
Motor according to the invention, FIG. 3 a longitudinal section of a motor with a double rotor, FIG. 4 A a longitudinal section of a non-homopolar motor, FIG. 4 legs of the end view of the motor according to FIG. 4 A with the end plate removed, FIG. 5 A a curve , which illustrates the course of the magnetic pulses of motors according to the invention when driven by an alternating current, FIG. 5B shows the use of combined alternating and direct currents, FIG. 6 shows an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention with auxiliary poles, FIG.
7 A shows a longitudinal section of a further embodiment and FIG. 7 shows the front view of the legs with the end plate removed, FIG. 8 shows a remote control, FIG. 9 shows details of the device for the remote control, FIGS. 10 A, B and C circuits for the remote control FIG. 11 shows a particular embodiment of the subject matter of the invention for remote controls and FIG. 12 shows a circuit of devices similar to that shown in FIG.
In Fig. 1A and B, a stator J 'made of magnetic material, such as iron, is provided with two end plates 2 and 3 in which the bearings for the rotor 5 are mounted. The rotor shaft 10 is enclosed by the stationary coil 4. The stator 1 has four poles a, b, c and d and the rotor 5 has three
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Poles x, y and z provided. The motor is designed as a homopolar motor so that all poles of the stator have the same polarity and all poles of the rotor have opposite polarity. When the rotor rotates clockwise at its synchronous minimum speed, a pole Z of the rotor is opposite a pole c of the stator when an electrical pulse arrives.
With the next pulse the pole z of the rotor will coincide with the pole d of the stator. Since the angular displacement of the poles of the stator 900 is that of the poles of the rotor 1200, the angle through which the rotor has rotated in the period between the aforementioned two pulses is 300.
As a result, twelve pulses are required for one revolution of the rotor.
Basically, the synchronous minimum speed of a rotor with Pi poles is compared to a stator with P2 poles
EMI2.1
where S "$ is the minimum synchronous speed in revolutions per second, F is the number of pulses per second and M is the smallest common multiple of the numbers PI and P2.
When each pulse arrives, there must be a meeting between a stator pole and a rotor pole. It can be seen that the speed Zu is the lowest speed at which this condition is met. However, there are also other synchronous speeds available, multiples
EMI2.2
EMI2.3
Herein, A is an integer that depends on the number of pole matches that are skipped between successive pulses. Therefore, when a pulse arrives at each pole match, A = 1, if a match is skipped, A = 2, etc.
It is noted that where in the description the word correspondence is used to identify the relationships between stator and rotor poles, it is not intended to mean a locally exact correspondence. When the rotor is running synchronously under load, an exact correspondence always becomes something take place after the impulses have arrived.
The pole arrangement according to Fig. 2 is suitable for Spreehmaseine drive with 50-period alternating current. The normal speed of rotation of records is about 78 per minute, and a 50 cycle alternating current gives 6000 pulses per minute. The synchronous minimum speed of the rotor is therefore
EMI2.4
approximately the desired speed for a speech machine without the use of transmission gears. If a normal synchronous motor were used with the same number of poles in the stator and rotor, approximately 154 poles would have to be used to achieve such a low speed without a change gear, whereas only 18 poles are required in the device according to FIG.
The arrangement according to FIG. 1 is such that the effective poles are located at 7, while at 6 no pole is present. Another embodiment, however, as shown in Fig. 3, has poles at both ends of the rotor. In this embodiment, each end of the rotor is provided with three poles, but the two ends are offset from one another by 600. The synchronous speed of rotation of the motor is exactly the same as that of the device of FIG. 1. The second set of stator poles can coincide with the first set or, if desired, be angularly offset from it.
In FIGS. 4 A and 4 B, an embodiment of a non-homopolar motor is illustrated, which however has the same synchronous speed as the motor according to FIG. 1. Each of the stator poles is provided with a separate excitation coil, and the individual coils are held together in such a way that
EMI2.5
of the rotor according to FIG. 3 are considered. At the next impulse the other two poles of the stator will work together with two other poles of the rotor.
The devices described are driven by magnetic pulses generated by the applied electrical pulses. In Fig. 5A, the strength of these magnetic pulses is shown by solid lines along a time axis, the alternating currents causing the magnetic pulses are given by the dashed lines. It can be seen from these curves that the frequency of the magnetic pulses is twice the frequency of the alternating current. However, it is possible, when using alternating current, to achieve frequency equality between the magnetic pulses and the alternating currents, u. between the fact that the coil of the motor according to FIG. 1 is fed with alternating current and direct current, as illustrated in FIG. 5B.
There, the distance between the lines 8 and 9 corresponds to the strength of the direct current and the sine line to the strength of both the electrical alternating currents and the magnetic pulses along a time axis. Under the given conditions, the resulting magnetic impulses are always unidirectional:
it
EMI2.6

can be used, but if the value is much smaller, the pulses begin to follow the course shown in Fig. 5A.
EMI3.1
Minimum speed on each pole of the other group, a maximum drive torque due to one or more of the electrical pulses during each revolution and a reduced or negligible drive torque due to the other pulses mentioned when the motor is running at synchronous speed. For example, in the motor according to FIG. 1B, the poles a and x cooperate with the exertion of a maximum torque when a pulse is applied in the illustrated position of the rotor.
The poles d and z on the one hand and b and y on the other hand exert reduced torques in opposite directions and the pole c a negligible torque. After the rotor has rotated by 300, a second pulse is applied, so that a maximum torque occurs between poles d and z. A reduced torque in the opposite direction
EMI3.2
off, and the rotor poles go through the same cycle four times. As can be seen, the angle through which the rotor is rotated by successive pulses is smaller than the angular distance between adjacent poles of both groups at the lowest synchronous speed.
If the motor should start by itself. auxiliary poles or an equivalent arrangement can be used. FIG. 6 shows the device according to FIG. 1 with auxiliary pole 1, a coil 11 which is short-circuited in it is provided on each pole. It is not necessary for all poles of the stator to be provided with auxiliary poles, since in many cases only one or two poles need to be provided in the specified manner in order to achieve a self-start. In many cases the rotor can be provided with a squirrel cage winding similar to the usual AC induction motors in order to achieve a self-starting.
Another possibility for performing the self-start is to use small intermediate poles, each of which is provided with a winding that is connected in series with a resistor, a capacitance or an inductance across the motor terminals. The impedance in series results in a known manner in a phase shift of the current in the winding of the intermediate pole.
Simple motors of the type already described with only two groups of cooperating ones
EMI3.3
Momentum divided by the smallest common multiple M of PI and Pa. is. It should be noted. that these speeds are exactly synchronous and depend on the frequency of the impulses, but to achieve synchronization it is necessary that the angle of the pole arc is chosen so that a change in the effective pole surfaces occurs when the rotor rotates with respect to the stator. For example, in the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1, the pole arc can be 450.
In the case of a motor with a four-pole rotor and an associated five-pole stator, however, the pole arc must not be 3130, since in this case there is no change in the effective polarity and, accordingly, no exact synchronization occurs; however, accurate synchronization can be achieved by using a 450 pole arc. The pole arc of the stator must be the same as the pole arc of the rotor in order to achieve precise synchronization.
The simple motor according to FIG. 1 can be converted into a double-tandem motor according to FIG. 7 il and B, in which the three-pole rotor 5 cooperates with four poles of an intermediate rotor. The intermediate rotor is provided with a second group of five poles which interact with seven poles of the stator 1.
The motor works as follows:
From the above formula (2) it follows that the synchronous speed of the intermediate motor with respect to the stator 1 can be expressed by

the generated alternating current is drawn. Another possibility is to design the shaft 10 of the rotor or any other part of the magnetic circuit as a permanent magnet. the alternating current is then generated in coil 4.
A permanent magnet can also be used in place of the DC component in an AC powered motor in order to achieve the effect shown in FIG. 5B. The devices working with intermediate rotors according to the invention can also be used as alternating current generators by driving the rotor alone. In this case, the self-starting means for the intermediate rotor are arranged in such a way that the intermediate rotor strives to rotate in a certain direction with respect to the rotor and in the same or opposite direction with respect to the stator, the suitable speeds are selected so that the desired frequency is generated becomes.
Alternators of the type described are of particular value. For example, if the driving force was only given by a low speed, it was previously necessary to use a generator with a large number of poles or transmission gears in order to achieve the desired frequency. According to the invention, however, it is necessary with a driving force of 2CO revolutions per minute to generate oOperiodic alternating current. to use a rotor with five poles and a stator with six poles, while 30 poles are required in the known arrangements. For the generation of high-frequency alternating currents, such as those required for experimental purposes and for wireless transmissions. the power generators according to the invention are therefore particularly suitable.
In the devices according to the invention, several intermediate rotors can be used in tandem, whereby special synchronous speeds can be achieved.
The use of a generator with a motor according to the invention results in a particularly useful

shown, connected to each other. If the rotor of one motor M is rotated by means of a lever 17, the lever 18 of the rotor of the second motor 16 would rotate by the same amount as the lever 17. In this case, however, all movements of the lever 17 take place in the same direction. It is also only possible to bring about a movement of the lever 18 which corresponds to the angle of movement generated by a pulse or a multiple thereof.
EMI5.3
occurs when the lever 17 is moved at a lower than a certain minimum speed, since the electromotive force generated by the generator 14 depends on the speed of movement of the
Rotor depends.
A further embodiment of the device is shown in FIG. 9, which illustrates a double motor, between the halves of which a partition 19 is provided so that each half of the motor is self-contained. The first half is provided with a winding 4, the second half with a winding. If such a motor is connected to a corresponding motor as shown in FIG. 10A, in which 20 represents the first motor and 21 the second motor, and an alternating current is applied to the two terminals 22 and 23, as well as the self-starting arrangement of FIG Rotors of the motors is such that the halves tend to rotate in opposite directions, so there is no movement of the rotors.
If a rotor is moved, a different frequency is generated in the winding - compared to the winding 4a, which acts on similar windings of a distant motor 21 and turns the rotor of 21. This effect is due to the fact that an increased frequency is generated in one coil and a decreased frequency is generated in the other.
Instead of applying an alternating current frequency to terminals 22 and 2J, two different frequencies can be applied, i.a. between one on terminals 22 and 27 and the other on terminals 2:; and 27. The two halves of the motor according to FIG. 9 are then provided with such pole numbers that each half strives to move in the opposite direction to the other with the same rotational speed.

of the rotor of 21.
In FIG. 10B, further circuit options for the motors 20 and 21 are indicated, which can be used in place of the arrangement according to FIG. 10A.
10C shows a further circuit arrangement with two different excitation frequencies and only two connecting lines between the motors 20 and 21. The windings of the motors 20 and 21 are connected to devices 24, each of which consists of two current branches. The branches which are connected to the coils 4 each contain an inductance, and the other branches which are connected to the coils 4a each contain a capacitor. As in the other exemplary embodiment, the two excitation frequencies are applied to terminals 22, 27 and 23.
A suitable selection of the inductances and capacities of the devices 24 results in a predominance of one of the two excitation frequencies in the circuit of FIG. 4 and a predominance of the other excitation frequency in the circuit of FIG. 4a. As described, when the rotor of FIG. 20 is rotated, different frequencies become
