Drying drum for rotogravure printing machines.

Paper web suction nozzles are provided on the drum circumference during drawing in, while the suction pump required for this is coupled to the auxiliary drive motor used for the slow speed of the machine, so that when this motor is switched on, the suction pump is put into operation without further operation.
In itself it is known. To equip cylinders and guide rollers in printing machines with suction nozzles which have the task of securely holding the paper web to the circumference of the cylinder or the like. However, attaching solehe suction nozzles to the drying drum of a rotogravure printing machine and coupling the associated suction pump with the auxiliary drive motor used for the slow speed of the machine offers the advantage over the known that the drawing in of the paper web is made much easier because it is no longer necessary Pressing the paper web with your hands on the hot drum circumference. This makes the operation of the rotogravure printing machine much easier and shortens the time lost if the paper web breaks.
In the drawing, a drying drum according to the invention is illustrated, for example, in FIG. 1 in cross section and in FIG. 2 in longitudinal section.
On the circumference of the drying drum ru heated by electrical resistors or in some other way, suction openings b are provided which are connected by lines c, <to the hollow axis e to which the suction pump is connected directly or indirectly.
When the paper web is drawn in, its end is held by the suction force on the drum circumference, so that it is guided around the drying drum a by rotating it. It is therefore no longer necessary to touch the hot surfaces of the drying drum a with your hands when pulling in a new paper web.
