Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

  Gemeinsam angetriebene Weehselstromerzeuger.

  Commonly driven generator.

   It is known to drive alternating current generators together, the generators being connected in parallel to one another. With these machine groups, as with individual machines, it is difficult to switch to higher voltages because these require an exceptional reinforcement of the conductor insulation.

  However, this disadvantage can be eliminated according to the invention in that the machines that are driven together are connected in series. Then only the machine needs from which the
Voltage is taken to be rated for the full operating voltage, while the other
Machine, which is in the zero point of the system, is only dimensioned for half the operating voltage.

   An embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the drawing. This shows two alternators b and c, which are driven by a drive machine a, which in the present case lies between the two generators, through a common shaft v. According to the invention, the stator windings and 1Ve of the generators are connected in series. The machine b should only be dimensioned for half the voltage taken from the terminals of the machine c, while the machine c should be dimensioned for the full machine voltage. Machine b is therefore simpler than machine c.

   With regard to insulation, however, the second machine c can also be made even simpler if the stator core of this machine is isolated from its housing. Then in the maximum case the voltage generated in the machine itself occurs between the winding and the iron carrying the winding, so that the insulation of the winding of this machine only needs to correspond to the size of this voltage.

   Moreover, in the first case it is sufficient to insulate the winding embedded in the grooves of the stator core of the second machine c according to the total voltage of the unit. The winding overhangs only need to be isolated from one another against the voltage generated in the machine itself.
