Description

  Method of drying electrical cables.

In order to produce cables as quickly as possible and as good as possible, the cables are placed in boilers, which are heated and evacuated.

The evacuated vapors are passed through a condenser around which water is flushed. The water vapor contained in the vapor is condensed in the condenser and the air is sucked off by a vacuum pump.

So far, water has been used to condense the vapors, which is how it is in the nature of things
 EMI1.1
of a minimum of 50 C, which temperature also gives the possible vacuum. Since the vapor tension of water is 5 C 0'009Atm. Section. is, the maximum vacuum that can be achieved during the drying process is thereby also given.

According to the present invention, the vapors are not cooled with water, but with a cooling medium of 0 C or below 0 C to -20 C and not only the path of the vapors, but also the space in which the condensation water is collected, chilled. As a cooling medium, a cooling liquid, for. B. cooled oil, or a solution of ammonia in water or a cooling gas, e.g. B. cooled air, etc. can be used.

For example, if you cool with a cooling liquid of -10 C, you can get a condensate of -100 C (therefore ice). A temperature of -10 C corresponds to a vapor tension of 0'003 Atm. abs., d. H. by using the cooling liquid, the vapor tension of the condensate can be reduced to the third part of what was previously achievable.

The ice collected in the condenser can either be removed as such, or a substance (salt, etc.) can be brought into the condenser, which keeps the water liquid even at temperatures below 00 C and makes it possible to drain the water.
