Insbesondere würde man

Security device against theft of automobiles.
The present invention relates to security devices against theft, which are particularly applicable to automobile vehicle cells to prevent their steering or to counteract the fact that they are being towed by the steering wheel mechanism being fixed with the help of an organ attached to a fixed part of the vehicle becomes.
The subject of the invention is a securing device of the specified type, which is characterized in that a flexible band is guided freely around the steering wheel on the one hand, and on the other passes through the opening of a piece which is permanently attached to the body, this band on each of its End of interlocking coupling members carries, which are designed such that the union of the two band parts to form an endless band quickly and easily takes place automatically by means of an elastic device as soon as the two ends of the band are brought into contact, one of the two organs having a locking device .
The flexible band can be designed in any suitable way, preferably consist of an arched chain or a steel band which is arranged between two belts.
It is sufficient to determine the length of the strap according to the different types of chassis before the raised or lowered coupling piece is attached to each of its ends. Non-compressible rings are attached to the two ends of the band, which encompass rivets or bolts that are used to fasten the coupling elements to the flexible band. The rings prevent the leather of the said band from being excessively compressed.
The raised coupling element (provided with a protruding part) of the band comprises two pistons with domed heads which tend to be separated from one another under the action of a spring, whereas the recessed element is in the form of a fork, each of which has an arm has deepened camp, wel I: es two. ks coupling is able to accommodate the domed piston heads of the raised organ.
The raised piece can also carry balls which tend to move away from one another under the influence of a spring-loaded cone in order to establish the connection with the recessed piece in a circular groove.
One of the organs carries a locking device which consists of a lock or the like, the bolt of which, after the parts have been coupled, can be brought into a position which secures the blocking of the entire device.
The piece attached to the body consists of two parts. One part, which is fastened to the body with the help of a screw or the like, has tips which penetrate the body and a cylindrical extension on which the other part is centered, which has the hole for the flexible passage Has band.
This part, traversed by the flexible band, can be made undetachable from the other in order to deny access to the fastening screw, in particular with the aid of a connecting ring which simultaneously engages in suitable grooves of these two parts.
The two parts of the piece attached to the body can moreover through each other

which the flexible band passes through, on the inseparable part is then secured by the flexible band itself as soon as this makes the steering wheel immobile. The piece moreover expediently carries a ratchet lock which only comes into effect in the sense of unscrewing and which is arranged in such a way that it only opposes the complete unscrewing after a certain unscrewing time, as soon as the gap between the two parts is sufficiently large to allow the To enable the introduction of a special tool, by means of which the latch can be lifted out, so that an authorized person can continue the robbery process.
The invention is illustrated by way of example in the drawings. 1 and la are longitudinal sections of an anti-theft device according to the invention, which locks the outer rim of the steering wheel. FIGS. 2 and 2a show a partially sectioned plan view of this. FIGS. 1 and 2 show the left half, FIGS. La and 2a the right halves of the safety device. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section of a modified embodiment of the coupling device.
FIG. 4 shows, partially in section, a anti-theft device which is provided with a fastening piece, the cooperating parts of which are connected to one another by mutual screwing.

<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
9 out of FIG. 9 shows in section the assembled piece in view of the introduction of the tool for lifting the pawl.
In Figs. 1, 1a and 2, 2a, A represents the endless belt, B the rim of a steering wheel and C the piece which is inextricably attached, for example, to the body of an automobile (not shown).
The endless belt A consists of a flexible steel sheet 1 enclosed between two leather straps 2 and 3 and of two coupling pieces, one with a protruding part and one with a recessed part.
The flexible band proper is attached to pieces 4 and 9 at each of its ends. The fastening takes place by means of rivets 6 with the interposition of a plate 6, whereby two non-compressible rings 7 and 8 are provided in order to prevent the leather straps from being excessively tightened.
The raised part 4 of the coupling carries two pistons 10 which, under the pressure of a spring 11 housed in their bores, tend to move away from one another. The two pistons are held back in the piece 4 by their shoulders 15, which are supported against the offset sleeves 12. In the piece 4 a lock 14 is arranged in such a way that the bolt 13 can be guided between the two pistons 10 in order to prevent their approach as soon as the device is coupled.
The recessed piece 9 has the shape of a fork with two arms, in which pieces 17 are inserted in any suitable manner, which inside have hemispherical cavities intended for this purpose. cie correspondingly shaped heads of the pistons 10 of the piece 4 receive.
To effect the coupling, i. H. In order to actually produce an endless belt, the parts 4 and 9 are brought closer to one another and pressed against one another until the piston heads 10 come to rest in the associated bearings of the fork, the merging taking place against the action of the spring 11 located between the pistons. As soon as the coupling is established, the closure is
EMI2.1
To release the coupling, it is sufficient to open the lock, whereby the bolt for the piston is withdrawn and then pull on the piece 4, the spring 11 receding and the piston 10 released.
It can be seen that it is impossible for so long to move the two parts 4 and 9 of the endless belt apart as long as the bolt 13 which blocks the two pistons 10 has not been released. The flexible band, which in the exemplary embodiment shown is guided around the rim of the steering wheel on the one hand, whereby of course the same hindrance to movement, e.g. B. can also be achieved thereby. the fact that the tape is passed around one of the arms of the steering wheel and that on the other hand passes through the opening of the part C attached to the body makes it impossible to use the vehicle.
EMI2.2
which is guided at each of its ends can be held in its locked position by the bolt of the lock 33 ', which bolt acts on the end 32' of the cone 3U '.
The raised and recessed piece 29 ', 28' is coupled in in the same way as in the case of the one in FIGS. 1, la and 2, 2a; and an endless belt is obtained in that the pieces 29 ', 28' are brought closer to one another and pressed against one another until the balls 31 'are inserted into the channel 41' of the piece 28 '.
The unsolvable piece C consists of two parts. One of the same Cl, which is attached to the body, consists of a large disc 18, with tips 21 which can penetrate into the body to prevent rotation, and a cylindrical part 24. The attachment of this part Cl to the body takes place with the aid of a bolt 19 and a screw nut 20, the cambered head 22 of which is round, which prevents any attempts to unscrew the nut.
The other part C2 of this piece C, which carries the opening 27 through which the endless belt A passes, sits by means of a recess on the cylindrical support part 2d of the other part and the final connection of these two parts is made by means of a connecting member 25, which was previously in a channel 26 of the cylindrical part 24 has been pressed in and which expands when the parts are assembled and half is inserted into a channel formed in the part 23 and half into the channel 26 (FIG. la).
In the modified embodiment according to FIG. 4, the piece C is also composed of two parts Cl

Tubular shape and has a thread 242 on the outside.
The part C2 has an eye 21 through which the flexible band passes and an annular part 23 with a thread 29 which corresponds to the thread 24 ′ of the piece C1. As can be seen from the drawing, the thread has a sufficient number of thread turns so that the locking between the parts C1 and C2 is always completely secured. The number of twists that can be given to the flexible band is actually very limited and the number of threads 24 ′ and 29 is chosen such that it is always greater. than this greatest possible number of complete rotations.
In this way, the threads 24 ′ and 29 remain in engagement in spite of all the rotations imparted to the band A.
The attachment of the piece C M of the body can be done, for example, in the following way:

the part Cl of the piece C up to the body until the tips 21 attached to the disk 18 rest against the wall 30.
The bolt 19 has a Vierkan'teil 19 ', which it relative to the rotation. prevents the body, thereby making it possible to quickly operate the nut 20 to tighten the part Cl against the body. The tips 24 prevent twisting of the by their penetration into the body
Part Cl with respect to the body.
The piece C2 is then screwed onto the thread 24 ', this thread, as mentioned above, having a sufficiently large number of threads.
When the parts C 'and C2 are appropriately assembled, there remains a space between them in which a spring 31 is accommodated, which counteracts the unscrewing of the nut 20 as well as vibrations between the various assembled parts.
When the flexible anti-theft band A is wrapped around the steering wheel on the one hand and passes through the eye 27 of the part 02 of the piece C attached to the body on the other, the steering wheel is immobilized and the part C2 is fixed on the part C1 by the flexible-1.
Since this band is flexible, it would be possible to give it certain twisting movements, but with regard to the number of threads of the threads 24 ', 29 these are not sufficient to cause the part C2 to detach, which allows access to the Attachment of the part Cl to the body serving device 19, 20 prevented.

part C2 with a ratchet lock which engages at a suitable moment during unscrewing to prevent further unscrewing.
As can be seen from FIGS. 5-8, this locking mechanism comprises, on the one hand, a pawl 32 which is fastened to the removable part 23 by means of a rivet 33 and is accommodated in a recess formed on the threaded inner surface 29 of the part C2 and on the other hand, an undercut 35 in the outer thread part 24 'of the tubular extension 24. The surfaces of the

The pawl 32 always has the tendency, be it through its own elasticity, be it under the action of a

In this position, however (FIGS. 8 and 9) the part C2 has moved far enough away from the disc 18 to allow the introduction of the curved

Now you can continue to unscrew the part C2 and completely detach it from the fixed part Cl. This process is only necessary if you want to remove the entire device from the vehicle.
The pawl 33 also has the advantage that it gives the thread a certain rigidity; it therefore resists vibrations between the assembled parts.
Of course, various modifications could be made to the embodiments described without departing from the essence of the invention. In particular, one would
