Incandescent cathode for electron tubes.

for the control of electrical machines, switching tubes, etc. The like.) and which accordingly require a strong heating current, it has been shown that this heating current influences the anode current. The heating current develops a magnetic field that deflects the electrons emanating from the hot cathode from their radial path of movement, so that they may even reach the glow point.
EMI1.2
Space charge effect, d. H. you need a higher voltage to achieve a required emission current.
Electron tubes are already known in which the heating current at the cathode is conducted in such a way that its magnetic effects cancel each other out in the vicinity of the cathode.
The arrangement is such that the heating current at the hot cathode is guided in a zigzag shape, similar to that of incandescent lamps.
EMI1.3
Amperages are carried out accordingly stronger.
The invention relates to electron tubes with cathodes in the form of hollow cylinders, in which the hollow cylinder is formed from wires extending axially or in the circumferential direction or from a network.
With this design, the strength of the heating current can be reduced so that, with the same heating power, the heating voltage has a favorable ratio to the heating current, so that the heating can be carried out with the means previously used. The leadthroughs through the glass wall are also considerably weaker than with cathodes, which consist of solid hollow cylinders.
In the drawing, a cathode designed according to the invention is shown, which consists of individual axially extending wires 1. The heating current supply 2 runs through the axis of the wire cylinder, so that the arrangement cannot have any magnetic effect on the outside.
The wires 1 may also be arranged so that they run in the circumferential direction or so that they form a network.
