Fig. 1 zeigt
 EMI1.1

Gassing. and combustion chamber for pulverized fuels.

It has already been proposed to gasify pulverulent fuels by generating a mixture of non-combustible and combustible gases at low temperatures with only partial addition of combustion air, into which gas mixture combustion air is then passed in order to burn the combustible gases completely. Difficulties arise here, however, because a sharp boundary cannot be drawn between the gasification chamber and the combustion chamber and because perfect, step-shaped combustion was therefore impossible.

The invention is based on the fact that the gasification and combustion chambers are separated from one another by a perforated wall equipped with air supply ducts, the dust-air mixture being gasified in the chamber in front of the wall. The gases penetrating the wall are pressed down by an air flow or pushed back into the gasification chamber, so that an overpressure is generated in the gasification chamber, while the secondary air flowing out of the wall simultaneously causes the complete combustion of the gases in the combustion chamber and cools the wall.

In the drawing, an embodiment of the inventive concept is shown. Fig. 1 shows
 EMI1.1

The dust air mixture is introduced into the combustion chamber a from above in a known manner and is broken down into combustible and non-combustible gases at temperatures of 500 to 600. In the wall b there are cooling air ducts c, from which higher-tension secondary air is blown into the combustion chamber d at such an angle that the gases flowing out of the gasification chamber are not entrained like an injector, but rather that a small overpressure is created in the gasification chamber. Primary and secondary air thus receive a specific, controllable pressure difference caused by the operation of the furnace. The secondary air flow can also be introduced from the side or below instead of from above.
