Abstract

Un proceso para la producción de un material de espinela de óxido de litio-manganeso-níquel incluye mantener una solución que comprende un compuesto de litio disuelto, un compuesto de manganeso disuelto, un compuesto de níquel disuelto, un ácido hidroxicarboxílico, un alcohol polihidroxi, y, en forma opcional, un compuesto metálico adicional, a una temperatura elevada T₁, en donde T₁ se encuentra por debajo del punto de ebullición de la solución, hasta que la solución se gelifica. El gel se mantiene a una temperatura elevada hasta que se enciende y se quema para formar un polvo de Li-Mn-Ni-O. El polvo de Li-Mn-Ni-O se calcina para quemar el carbono y/u otras impurezas presentes en el polvo. El polvo calcinado resultante se somete en forma opcional a tratamiento de microondas, a fin de obtener un polvo tratado el cual se hibrida para cristalizar el polvo. El material hibridado resultante se somete en forma opcional al tratamiento de microondas. Se lleva a cabo por lo menos un tratamiento de microondas. De ese modo, se obtiene el material de espinela de óxido de litio-manganeso-níquel.
