Abstract

Es un dispositivo apto para la vigilancia del transporte ilícito de materiales fisibles que puedan ser utilizados en la construcción de bombas nucleares o no fisibles que puedan ser utilizados en la construcción de artefactos de dispersión radiológica; caracterizado por reducir la tasa de detecciones espurias y aumentar la probabilidad de detección en comparación con dispositivos equivalentes del arte previo. Algunas de sus potenciales aplicaciones comprenden el uso de conjuntos de sensor de radiación/telémetro con apuntamiento manual o automático y conjunto de sensor de radiación/cámara con programa de detección y seguimiento de objetos en movimiento junto con electrónica de adquisición de datos y procesamiento de los mismos; los que permiten el cálculo de la correlación entre la traza característica producida por el sujeto portador de la carga radioactiva en movimiento y una traza de referencia estimada. La electrónica de detección incluye un dispositivo capaz de llevar a la práctica un proceso de espectrometría y de cálculo que le permite compensar los efectos de la sombra de los vehículos de transporte. Incluye además un detector de radiación, sus fuentes de alta tensión y las cadenas amplificadora/acondicionadora de señal correspondientes.
