Abstract

Un sistema sensor incluye al menos dos sensores para distinguir estímulos acomodativos en el diámetro de la pupila, a partir de cambios en los niveles de luz ambiental y cambios inducidos por tareas. Al implantarse, el primer sensor se dispone completamente dentro de la pupila; incluso cuando está totalmente encogida, la pupila no ocluye el sensor, permitiéndole efectuar mediciones precisas de los niveles de flujo lumínico ambiental. Al implantarse, el segundo sensor está dispuesto de manera que, al dilatarse o encogerse, la pupila ocluye parte de la o las áreas activas del segundo sensor. Como consecuencia de ello, el segundo sensor mide tanto el flujo lumínico ambiental como el diámetro de la pupila. Un procesador estima el diámetro de la pupila a partir de las mediciones y determina si la misma está cambiando de diámetro en respuesta a los estímulos acomodativos u otros factores, comparando el diámetro de pupila estimado y los niveles de luz ambiental medidos hasta valores predeterminados. El sistema sensor envía una señal a un componente óptico que, a su vez, puede responder cambiando la potencia óptica para enfocar en visión cercana al detectarse los estímulos acomodativos.
