Abstract

Se describe un aparato ortopédico (10), para la modificación de la distancia entre el maxilar (21) y el cigoma (22). En una forma de realización preferida, el aparato incluye placas de base proximal y distal fijadas a un dispositivo ortopédico. La placa de base distal es fijada al cigoma (22), siendo la placa de base proximal, acoplada mecánicamente al maxilar (21). Este acoplamiento mecánico es llevado a cabo sea mediante fijación directa al maxilar (21) sea mediante la fijación a un constructo que es seguidamente fijado mediante alambre a los dientes del paciente. El dispositivo ortopédico, que puede ser un distractor, permite la modificación de la distancia entre el maxilar (21) y el cigoma (22). La totalidad del aparato puede ser colocada ventajosamente intraoralmente en un paciente. En una forma de realización preferida, las placas de base con también desprendibles del dispositivo ortopédico y están fabricadas de un material bioresorbible, de manera tal que serán absorbidas por el cuerpo del paciente.
