Abstract

El presente método facilita la formación de un modelo de características de imagen que es de particular utilidad para la compresión y descompresión deimágenes de características similares. Más específicamente, el modelo de características permite la compresión y descompresión de grandes colecciones deimágenes que tengan conjuntos consistentes de características de imágenes similares que se puedan alinear y ajustar en escala para posicionar estascarcterísticas en zonas bien correlacionadas. El modelo de características incluye una pluralidad de elementos de modelo cada uno de los cuales representacaracterísticas específicas de una imagen, y datos que representan los atributos de cada elemento del modelo. La metodología preferida para formar elmodelo de características comprende las etapas de: establecer las dimensiones de un modelo de características para dar cabida a una imagen normalizada;dividir dicho modelo de características en una pluralidad de tipos de características para dar cabida a características similares en la imagennormalizada; asignar por lo menos un elemento del modelo a cada tipo de característica; y registrar la posición de todos los elementos del modeloasignadosdentro de las dimensiones de dicho modelo de características para facilitar la reconstrucción del modelo de características así formado.The present method facilitates the formation of an image characteristics model that is particularly useful for the compression and decompression of images with similar characteristics. More specifically, the feature model allows compression and decompression of large image collections that have consistent sets of similar image features that can be aligned and scaled to position these features in well-correlated areas. The feature model includes a plurality of model elements each representing specific characteristics of an image, and data representing the attributes of each model element. The preferred methodology for forming the feature model comprises the steps of: establishing the dimensions of a feature model to accommodate a standardized image; dividing that feature model into a plurality of feature types to accommodate similar features in the standardized image ; assign at least one model element to each feature type; and recording the position of all the model elements assigned within the dimensions of said characteristics model to facilitate the reconstruction of the characteristics model thus formed.
