Abstract

This is a new method for the phormology of ceramic crowns and bridges by depending on metal moulds assisting in the phormology of parts that are difficult to be formed from the teeth during the stage of ceramic construction upon mixing and prior to baking stage.

Description

ASSISTING STANDARD MOULDS SYSTEM FOR THE CERAMIC CROWNS & BRIDGES PHORMOLOGY
A. Introduction:
Based on my experience as a dental technician for 18 years dealing with the industry and phormology of teeth, I noticed the existence of many defaults and problems in the- internationally common used traditional method for the phormology of ceramic crowns and bridges. In fact, the said traditional method depends on using the brush for the construction of the teeth body in whole by putting the ceramic materials gradually as shown in figure (1) : ((1/1) (1/2) (1/3) (1/4)) .
The main demerits of the this method can be summarized as follows: - 1. The long period of time for working.
2. The lack of homogeneousness of the ceramic mass in a good manner because of applying ceramic on batches.
3. The big gap in the sculpture level and phormology of teeth among the persons practicing such profession. - The previous defaults might lead to the following results:
1. Decreasing the laboratory's productivity.
2. Losing the flexibility of ceramic and the appearance of cracks upon the process of occlusion of the superior and inferior jaw.
3. Loss of the ceramic materials due to the repetition of cleaning - process and the heads of the brush (which is necessary for good control of the brush). We noticed that while watching the ceramic sedimentation in the used cup of water.
4. The occurrence of a defect in the required gradual coloring particularly for the new persons practicing this profession. 5- Detailed explanation of the Innovation:
A set of small metallic moulds of Vitalium used for facilitating the process of ceramic phormology of teeth according to a method to be mentioned later on. Each mould is consisted of two parts (As shown in figure (2) :((2/l) (2/2)) Internal Part: It is shaped of the required area to be formulated of the teeth by using the mould. 0- • External Part: Racking arm of a length about 3 cm used for clipping and controlling the mould.
The set consists phormological moulds that are considered as having good specifications and standard in compliance with the specifications of the natural teeth known as FRASACO for facilitating the selection of the 5- suitable mould to be attached to each set of moulds assembled form the formulated samples by using such moulds.
It is possible to use this mould in this field due to the difference of teeth volume from a human being to a small one. Besides, to the big similarity in the phormolpgical forms of teeth for the majority of human beings.0- Consequently, it is possible to use such moulds for the teeth primary construction till getting the final required form by making simple modifications as mentioned in the work method set forth in details. The complete sets of moulds will be produced according to the three sizes (Small size, medium size and big size). The suitable size of will be defined according to each case of the work as shown in figures: (3),(4),(5)
The said system contains also a set of the installed moulds each one- including the mould of many contiguous teeth (two teeth or three) as shown in figures : (6) , (7) , (8) Also, it includes moulds of various forms of different length and width for the front upper and inferior teeth as shown in figure : (9) and we present in the following table the dimensions of surfaces resulted from such moulds (Moulds of front upper and inferior - teeth):

Method of Moulds Manufacturings
1. We take the required gypsum sample just like the ideal teeth form known as Frazaco.
2. We draw the maximum ambient line for each tooth.
5- 3. We insulate the gypsum sample by using the common wax.
4. We coat the gypsum sample till the maximum ambient line of a tender lmm of melted wax (used at dental laboratories)
5. We cut the wax according to the required moulds.
6. We fix cylindrical wax pieces of diameter 3mm and length 3cm till o- the mid of the surface of each wax piece.
7. We remove the wax pieces from the gypsum sample.
8. We transform the shape of the wax pieces into metal shapes by adopting a known method and common at the dental laboratories.
9. We refine and smooth the moulds and their internal surfaces. 15- 1 O.We get the required moulds.
Method of using moulds
Figure (10) : ((10 / 1 ) , (10 / 2 ) , (10 / 3 ) , (10/ 4 )) for one tooth. Figure (11): ((11/1), (11/2), (11/3), (11/4), (11/5), (11/6), 20. (11/7), (11/8) ,(11/9) ,(11/10), (11/11), (11/12))
( A set of photos clarifying the method of a complete ceramic bridge performance )
• Selecting the suitable mould for the case.
• Coating the internal side of the mould by ceramic insulation material to prevent ceramic from sticking to the mould.
25- • Filling the mould of the ceramic material according to the required color grading.
• Putting the mould on a pillar.
• Pressing on the mould with shaking for condensing the ceramic particles and fixing the ceramic mass in its designated place.
30- • Removing the mould
• Formulating the remained part of the tooth (Single parts) by using the brash.
By this method we get many merits and benefits in comparison with the previous method:
1. Changing the formation process from a technical process to a standard technological process without decreasing the level of the- resulted forms from the technical and phormological aspect.
2. Rapid filling ceramic in the mould.
3. Saving time of about 50% particularly for those of limited experience.
4. Saving consumption of ceramic during the work. 0- 5. Easily achieve the graded color of ceramic.
6. Preserving flexibility of the ceramic mixture for a longer period of time (Approximately doubled time)
7. The possibility of adjusting the teeth position during formation process in the flexibility stage (Removing the form completely,5- inclination of axes: (Mesiodistal, mesiobuccal or rotation) by using the rack arm.
8. Assures easy occlusion process.
9. The possibility of pressing the ceramic by pressing the mould to get the required thickness and increasing the homogeneousness of the0- ceramic material.
10. The possibility of getting smooth external surface.
11. The possibility of making temporary prosthesis from Acryl by putting this material in the mould at its paste phase and separating the form immediately after the rubber stage. 5- 12. Reducing the distinction among dental technicians with regard to the formation method. 13. The possibility of forming combined sets of teeth altogether.
Throughout my experiments by using such system for about 300 patients who require prosthesis that carried out at the laboratory during one year,0- I found out that about 60% of the cases where I used the medium size for the posterior teeth moulds and 30% of the big size and the small size plus 10% of the cases that are not possible to use such system when teeth are too short (There is not statistic for the front teeth due to the variety of dimensions of such teeth). .
