Abstract

 カルベン結合を有する下記一般式(1)で表される遷移金属錯体化合物、並びに、一対の電極間に少なくとも発光層を有する一層又は複数層からなる有機薄膜層が挟持されている有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子において、該有機薄膜層の少なくとも1層が、前記遷移金属錯体化合物を含有する有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子であり、発光効率が高く、青色発光する有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子及びそれを実現する遷移金属錯体化合物を提供する。[一般式(1)において、C→M は金属カルベン結合を示す。M は、Ir 又はPt の金属原子を示す。k は1~3、m は0~2 の整数を示し、k+m は金属M の原子価を示す。R3 は、アルキル基等である。R4~R17 は、それぞれ独立に、水素原子、ハロゲン原子等であり、R4~R17 は隣接するもの同士で架橋していてもよい。]
