Description
Description A COOKER
[0001] The present invention relates to a cooker comprising a control unit having electrical connections.
[0002] The control units in household appliances having electrical connections should be protected from the outside effects as much as possible. Therefore, there are protective walls around the control unit that insulates it as much as possible from the outer environment. Since the control units especially in cookers are very near the heaters, heat insulation has to be provided for these units. In the current state of the art, the protective wall that prevents the control units in the cooker from the effect of heat is formed of insulation materials, generally a plastic box or silicon gaskets. However, when certain temperature limits are exceeded, the insulation wall is not sufficient due to the features of the plastic material. Using only metal materials for protective walls without using plastic material, results in the formation of a magnetic field and generation of noises that adversely affect the user. Furthermore, condensation problem arises when the existing protective walls are affected by heat or when protective walls cannot prevent the vapor produced by the heaters and the control unit cannot operate.
[0003] The object of the present invention is the realization of a cooker comprising a control unit with enhanced heat and moisture insulation.
[0004] The cooker realized in order to fulfill the objectives of the present invention is explicated in the claims.
[0005] In the cooker of the present invention, the control unit, emplaced in a frame of plastic material for heat insulation, is positioned in a holder mounted on a plate such that it can move between certain reference points. Ventilation is provided by forming slits on the plate and on the casing, thus providing humidity balance for the control unit.
[0006] The limited movement of the control unit between certain reference points is provided by arranging some springs on the holder, beneath the control unit. By means of these springs, the control unit bears on the burner plate together with the frame, preventing the control unit from being adversely affected by the burners in the cooker.
[0007] The springs are preferably squeezed in between a bearing disposed on the holder and a recess situated on the frame.
[0008] In an embodiment of the present invention, the emplacement of preferably hollow cylinder shaped bearings on the holder is provided by fitting a tab on their sides into
the holder base.
[0009] In the present invention, at least one gasket is provided at the point wherein the frame bears on the burner plate. The control unit is completely insulated from the area of the burners by means of the gasket that prevents the problem of condensation on the control unit.
[0010] In the embodiment of the present invention, a holder, preferably produced of a stainless metal material, is utilized.
[0011] The control unit utilized in the present invention is preferably selected as a touchmatic type. The burner plate is preferably produced of glass material.
[0012] In an embodiment of the present invention, transmitters having an insulated portion and a conductive portion are positioned on the buttons of the control unit. Accordingly, the discrepancy that can happen with the control unit and the serigraph on the burner plate is prevented.
[0013] The cooker realized in order to fulfill the objectives of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
[0014] Figure 1 - is the perspective view of the cooker when the plate and the burner plate when they are separated from each other.

[0022] The cooker (1) comprises one or more heaters (3) that carry out the heating process, a control unit (4), a plate (2) on which the heater (3) is arranged, a burner plate (5) assembled such that the plate (2) is covered, whereupon the items to be heated are emplaced, and a casing (18) between the plate (2) and the burner plate (5) wherein the control unit (4) is situated.
[0023] The casing (18) comprises a frame (6) unto which the control unit (4) is mounted such that the control unit (4) is higher than the plate (2) and held nearer to the burner plate (5), a holder (7) inside which the frame (6) is fitted, serving as a heat insulation wall around the control unit (4) to protect it from the heaters (3), and one or more springs (8) situated inside the holder (7) that push the control unit (4) towards the burner plate (5).
[0024] The casing (18), furthermore, comprises one or more bearings (9) wherein the spring (8) is situated and a recess (10) situated on the frame (6), into which the spring (8) and the bearing (9) are seated.
[0025] The casing (18) yet, furthermore, comprises a gasket (11) that is mounted on the frame (6) such that it encircles its surface facing the burner plate (5), squeezed in between control unit (4) pushed towards the burner plate (5) by the springs (8) and the burner plate (5), preventing the heat and moisture from reaching the control unit (4).
[0026] The casing (18) furthermore comprises a flange (19) situated at the inner wall of the frame (6), whereupon the control unit (4) is seated, a channel (20) formed between the inner wall of the frame (6) and the control unit (4) when the control unit (4) is seated on the flange (19), and a second gasket (12) disposed inside the channel (20).
[0027] In the present invention, when the frame (6) and the control unit (4) are activated by the springs (8) disposed in the holder (7) mounted on the plate (2) and bears on the burner plate (2) that covers the plate (2), the second gasket (12) provides the leak-
proofing between the control unit (4) and the burner plate (5). By means of this configuration, the insulation provided by the frame (6) that cannot stand high temperatures on the control unit (4) is reinforced by arranging the holder (7) and the control unit (4) that bears on the burner plate (5) by the springs (8) is prevented from the heat generated from the heaters (3) and the ambient humidity, furthermore the first gasket (11) emplaced on the control unit (4) provides complete leak-proofing.
[0028] In the present invention, the holder (7) is produced of stainless material in order to prevent the control unit (4) comprising electrical elements like the transformer, from forming a magnetic field through being affected by the metallic material. Preferably stainless steel is used. The frame (6) is produced of heat resistant plastic. More than one slits are formed on the plate (2) and on the holder (7) in order to ventilate the control unit (4). Consequently, the insulated control unit (4) is provided to operate in accordance with the operational temperatures specified in the standards.
[0029] In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooker (1) comprises a touchmatic control unit (4), one or more buttons (13) arranged on the control unit (4) for administering the different functions and a transmitter (14) disposed on the button (13), having a greater surface area than the button (13), being squeezed in between the button (13) and the burner plate (4) as a result of the pressure applied on the control unit (4) by the springs (8), that transfers the touch of the user on the burner plate (5) to the button (13).
[0030] The transmitter (14) comprises a conductive portion (15) that contacts the burner plate (5), an insulated portion (16) situated under the conductive portion (15) providing the electrical insulation with the control unit (4) and a button socket (17), forming a recess from the insulated portion (16) towards the conductive portion (15) wherein the button (13) is seated, providing the contact of the button (13) with the conductive portion (15).
[0031] Since the control unit (4) comprises touchmatic buttons (13), the transmitter (14), by means of its wider surface area than the button (13), makes the centering of the buttons (13) with the serigraph on the burner plate (5) easier. Even if the serigraphy is not directly on the button (13), the user can access the button (13) by means of the transmitter (14).
[0032] By means of the present invention, the insulation of the control unit (4) is provided, preventing the effect of environmental problems such as rising of the temperature and condensation.
