JOSHUA POOL AND JOSEPH POOL, OF GREENSBURG, INDIANA.
DESIGN FOR ARC HED MONUMENT.
Specification forming part of Design No. 11,364, dated August 26, 1879; application filed August 2, 1H79. [Term of patent 14 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JOSHUA POOL and JOSEPH POOL, of Greensburg, in the county of Decatur and State of Indiana, have originated and designed a new Arched Monument, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specification.
The nature of our design is fully represented in the accompanying drawing; and consists of an oblong base of one or more pieces, A, on which are placed two parallel columns, 0 D E and O D E, each column consisting of a die, O, which is square, with a round mold, ashafr, D, which is round, and a cap, E, which is round, finished to square on the upper side, to fit the bases of the arch F, which rest upon them, which arch is surmounted by an urn, G, or any other appropriate device or ornament, all substantially as shown in the drawin gs.
The caps of the shafts are finished from a round. mold to a square, as shown at E H, to fit the bases of the arch when placed upon them. It is obvious that the square base 0,
on which the round columns rest, may be round clear down to the oblong base A, if desired, without departing from the essential features of our design.
What we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The design for an arched monument, consisting of a combination of round and shown in the accompanying drawing.
2. The design for an archedmonument, consisting of the base A, on which is mounted two parallel columns, U D E and O l) B, said columns being united together at their caps by the arch F, and surmounted by an urn, G, or any other appropriate device or ornament, substantially as described, and shown in the accompanying drawing.
In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
