PATENT EEICE.
CONRAD KRELL, OF WIESBADEN, GERMANY.
FORM FOR WASHING` GLOVES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 763,406, dated June 28, 1904. Application filed December 15, 1903. Serial No. 185,286. (No model.)
To MH wil/mt it Duty concern.'
Be it known that I, CONRAD KRELL, a subject of the King of Prussia, German Emperor, and a resident of I/Viesbaden, in the Province of Hesse-Nassau, German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Forms for `Washing Gloves, of which the following' is an exact specification.
My invention relates to a form to be used in washing gloves, the form having the shape of a hand. For washing the gloves the same are pulled on the form and treated in any suitable manner. The forms hitherto used for this purpose consist mostly ofa single part possessing four fingers and a thumb hinged to the part. These forms have the disadvantage that the gloves cannot be cleaned between the lingers, as the fingers cannot be moved. In order to do away with this disadvantage, forms have been constructed consisting of a separate part for each finger-- that is to say, consisting of five parts. These five parts were situated one at the side of the other, so as to form one plane, and were connected to each other so as to be capable of being moved in the direction vertical tothe plane of the hand. These forms have the disadvantage that the gloves pulled over the same are easily torn at the spot at which the thumb of the glove is xed to the same, as the thumb of a glove is fixed so that the thumb of' the hand can only be moved in the direction parallel to the plane of the hand. In order to avoid this disadvantage, I provide my present invention, which consists of a form four parts of which are movable in the direction vertical to the plane of the hand, whereas the part of the form representing the thumb of the hand can be moved in a plane parallel to the plane of the hand.
In order to make my invention more clear, I refer to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure lshows a plan of a form constructed according to my invention. Fig. 2 shows a side elevation of the same.
In the drawings, 1, 2, 3, and 4 are four parts the upper ends of which formthe fingers, the remaining part forming the surface of the hand. The four parts l, 2, 3, and 4 are turnable around a common axis c.
e is a piece for the thumb of the glove and is hinged, by means of a pin f, to the part 2 for the middle finger.
c is a pin which may be passed through holes provided at the lower ends of the parts 1, 2, 3, and 4 for the purpose of holding all these parts in one plane.
The form Vis preferably used in the following manner: The thumb-piece e is taken ofi" and the glove pulled over the form. The pin c is then taken out, so that the single parts can swing around thev axis a, and the glove can be cleaned on both sides, as well as between the fingers. The piece e for the thumb is then fixed, by means of the pin f, in a hole of the part 2. According to whether the right-hand or left-hand glove is being cleaned, the thumb is fixed at one or the other side of the form. Thereafter' the thumb of the glove is pulled over the thumb-piece e apd cleaned.
Having thus fully described the nature of this invention, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is- 1. lIn a form for washing gloves, the combination of four parts turnable around a common axis, the upper ends of these parts forming the fingers of' the form, with a thumbpiece detachably fixed to one of these parts and turnable in a plane parallel to the plane of the hand, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
2. In a form for washing gloves, the combination of four parts turnable around a common axis, the upper ends of these parts forming the fingers of the form, with a thumbpiece d etachably fixed to the part for the middle finger, said thumb-piece being turnable in a plane parallel to the plane of the hand, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
In testimonywhereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses. p
CONRAD KRELL. Vitnesses:
