Be it known that we, BENJAMIN K. DORWART and GEORGE F. ROTE, Jr., of Lancaster, in the county of Lancaster, and in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new andl useful improvements in Fences; and do hereby declare that the following isa full, lclear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of referencemarked thereon. In the annexed drawings, making part of this speciiication-- A A represent the pannels of a portable fence, which may be 'constructed in an()7 of' the knownr and usual lays, as there is nothing peculiar in the pannels themselves. The pannels, after being. connectedv together in anlnown way, are supported by means of the pivoted braces B B. These braces can be pivoted to the pannels themselves, or to blocks which pass through and connect the pannels, or to the posts of thefence, where posts are used. C represents one of the fence posts with the braces pivoted to it at its upper end. The lower ends of the braces may be secured in any suitableway to the earth. These braces may be turned up and out of the wayin ploughing or cutting, or cultivating or ditching, close to the fence, and then returned to their places again when the Work is finished. v

What we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- The braces B B pivoted at their upper ends tothe blocks which connect the pannels or to the posts, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
