Description

May 26, 1970 L. DOYEN SUPPORT FOR A SACHET CONTAINING A LIQUID, POWDER OR SIMILAR PRODUCTS Filed Sept. 10, 1968 FIG. 1
LOUIS DOYEN INVENTOR.
Attorney Int. Cl. B 65b 67/12 US. Cl. 248-97 10 Claims ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A support for a sachet containing a liquid product consists of an oval collar much less in height than the sachet, the lower edge forming a base. A crosspiece lies across the shorter diameter of the collar slightly spaced from the base. The base includes two slots on its longer diameter. The dimensions are such that a sachet can rest on the crosspiece so that its two lower corners protrude through the openings and are gripped by the lower edge enabling the support to hold the sachet efficaciously. Stability is increased by a beading around the base. The support is advantageously made by moulding plastics material.
The present invention relates to a support for a sachet containing a liquid, powder or similar product.
On account of their flexibility, and hence their lack of rigidity, sachets of plastics material, currently used for the packaging of liquid and powdered products, require the employment of rigid supports to facilitate their handling and their use. It is thus especially, that by way of example, it is known to place in relatively low jars, sachets containing milk, which sachets consist generally of a sheath in which each sachet is bounded by two transverse seams; this sheath is itself besides, mostly formed of two bands of plastics material joined together by two longitudinal seams.
Such sachets are placed in jars of plastics material which comprise a grip handle and a lateral slot outside of which one of the two upper corners of the sachet passes, namely the corner which, after cutting, will enable the emptying of the sachet.
Such jars are roomy, but are not generally very aesthetic, and especially do not enable the reading on the sachet of inscriptions regarding its contents.
It is an object of the present invention to overcome these drawbacks.
According to the invention there is provided a support for the aforesaid purpose, constituted by an oval collar of which the height is much less than that of the sachet; this collar comprising at its base a crosspiece passing through its shortest diameter and two slots located on its longest diameter; the dimensions of this collar being such that the sachet can be introduced therein and rests, by its bottom,
on this crosspiece, however, so that its two lower corners United States Patent 3,514,061 Patented May 26, 1970 vention is described below purely by way of illustrative but nonlimiting example, with reference to the accompanying schematic drawing in which:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the sachet holder;
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the sachet holder with a sachet; and
FIG. 3 is a view of the assembly of the sachet and sachet-holder in longitudinal section, resting in supporting position on a flat surface.
This sachet-holder is constituted by an oval collar 2, advantageously made of moulded plastics material.
At its base, this collar 2 is provided with a peripheral heading 3 which improves its seating. Along its small diameter, it bears a crosspiece 4, located at its lower part, and also at its lower part, it has two openings 5 which are located along its longest diameter.
The height of this sachet holder is considerably less than that of a sachet, such as that 6 shown in the drawing but the horizontal dimensions of this sachet holder are such that the sachet can be introduced therein practically without play.
The essential novelty of this sachet holder resides in the presence of the crosspiece 4, which avoids the sachet passing entirely through the sachet holder, and especially in the presence of two lower openings 5 which enable the two lower corners 7 of the sachet to pass through them and hence to protrude laterally with respect to the sachet holder, without preventing at least the sachet holder from being supported, by its lower side, on any surface, for example on a table, on a shelf of a cupboard, on a wallcupboard or the like.
FIG. 2 also shows the sachet holder during the period of use. The sachet 6 is introduced inside it and the corners of this sachet are visible laterally and at the lower part of the sachet holder.
As goes without saying, the invention is not limited to the single embodiment of this sachet holder, which has been described above by way of example. Various changes and modifications may be made including its constitutional nature and its process of manufacture without departing from the essential concept of the invention as defined in scope by the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A support for a sachet containing a liquid, powdered or similar product, said support comprising an oval collar having a lower edge forming a base and the height of the collar being much less thanthat of the sachet, a crosspiece at the base of the collar along its shortest diameter and the collar defining two openings at the base of its longest diameter, the dimensions of this collar being such that the sachet can be introduced therein and rest, by its bottom, on said crosspiece, so that the two lower corners of the sachet pass through said openings to form two ears which protrude with respect to the support and are gripped thereunder so enabling the support to hold the sachet efficaciously.
2. A support according to claim 1, wherein said crosspiece is spaced substantially above the plane of said base.
3. A support according to claim 1, including a peripheral element at the base to increase the stability of the support.
4. A support according to claim 3, wherein said peripheral element comprises a beading.
5. A support according to claim 2, including a peripheral element at the base to increase the stability of the support.
6. A support according to claim 5, wherein said peripheral element comprises a beading.
7. A support according to claim 1, wherein said collar is made of plastics material.
8. A support according to claim 4, wherein said support is made by moulding.
9. A support according to claim 6, wherein said collar is made of plastics material.
10. A support according to claim 9, wherein said support is made by moulding.
