Description

I IO UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIcE.
ROBERT F. DIOKSON, OF ATOKA, TENNESSEE.
COMPOSITION FOR CLEANING MARBLE SURFACES.
SPEC IFIGATION forming' part of Letters Patent No. 290,754, dated December 25, 1883.
I Application filed January 29, 1883. (No specimens) To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ROBERT F. DIGKSON, a
citizen of the United States of America, re-
siding at Atoka, in the county of Tipton and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Liquid Oompound for Cleansing Marble Surfaces; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention consists in a new liquid compound for cleaning marble surfaces, or removing discolorations from any surface of similar composition; and it has for its object to cleanse the surfaces of bodies of the kind stated by means of a cheap and simple liquid chemical compound, which can be readily applied, and which will effectually accomplish the purpose intended.
To attain the purpose of my invention, I make a compound consisting of muratic acid and clear ammonia, in the proportion of three parts of muratic acid and one part of clear ammonia, which compound I apply with a stiff brush to the surface to be cleansed, after which I Wash off the surface to which the cleansing compound has been applied with water and sponge, the operation to be repeated should the first application fail to entirely effect the purpose.
This compound will be found useful for cleansing any marble, especially weatherbeaten tombstones or any article discolored by exposure and age. The proportions of the ingredients may be slightly varied from the formula hereinbefore stated, but I find from practice that the formula stated is about correct, and meets the end desired. This liquid compound, composed of only two ingredients, is manufactured readily and at a small cost, and requires no skill or special preparation to apply it to the object to be cleaned.
WVhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The fluid composition for cleaning marble surfaces, consisting of muriatic acid, three parts, and clear ammonia, one part, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ROBERT F. DIOKSON.
