Abstract
A ring toss game assembly enabling a tabletop playable ring tossing game includes a board, a plurality of pegs, and a plurality of rings. Each peg is engaged to and extends substantially perpendicularly from an upper face of the board. A respective ring is grasped in digits of a hand of a user, positioning the user to toss the respective ring in an attempt to position the respective ring around a respective one of the plurality of pegs. The ring toss game assembly also may comprise a set of rules for playing a ring toss game.

- The disclosure relates to object tossing game assemblies and more particularly pertains to a new object tossing game assembly enabling a tabletop playable ring tossing game. The present invention discloses an object tossing game assembly comprising a board with pegs attached and a plurality of ring. The pegs are adjustably positionable and comprise a plurality of colors, allowing for a variety of games to be played. The rings have a variety of inner diameters and comprise materials of various degrees of rigidness, allowing for a variety of difficulty levels in the games to be played. The board is sized for tabletop positioning and has a wall affixed to its perimeter so that rings tossed on retained upon the board.
- The prior art relates to object tossing game assembles. Prior art object tossing game assembles which use rings are not designed for tabletop play, nor do they permit games to be played based on colors of the pegs. Generally, prior art object tossing game assembles comprises a pair of board with pegs or hooks attached, which are positioned apart and angled relative to a surface upon which they are positioned, such as is done with cornhole boards.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a board, a plurality of pegs, and a plurality of rings. Each peg is engaged to and extends substantially perpendicularly from an upper face of the board. A respective ring is configured to be grasped in digits of a hand of a user, positioning the user to toss the respective ring in an attempt to position the respective ring around a respective one of the plurality of pegs. The present invention also may comprise a set of rules for playing a ring toss game.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new object tossing game assembly embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 6 , the ringtoss game assembly 10 generally comprises aboard 12, a plurality ofpegs 14, and a plurality ofrings 16. Theboard 12 may be substantially circularly shaped, or alternatively shaped, such as, but not limited to, squarely shaped, ovally shaped, and the like. Theboard 12 has awidth 18 of from 20.00 to 42.00 centimeters. Theboard 12 may have awidth 18 of approximately 28.00 centimeters so that theboard 12 is sized for positioning upon a tabletop. - Each
peg 14 is engaged to and extends substantially perpendicularly from anupper face 20 of theboard 12. Eachpeg 14 has a respective color, so that the plurality ofpegs 14 comprisespegs 14 having a variety ofcolors 22. For example, as is indicated inFIG. 4 , the plurality ofpegs 14 may comprisepegs 14 colored red, orange, green, yellow, purple, white, and blue. - The
pegs 14 extend from theboard 12 from 1.27 to 3.20 centimeters. Thepegs 14 may extend from theboard 12 approximately 2.54 centimeters. The present invention also anticipates eachpeg 14 having arespective length 24 so that the plurality ofpegs 14 comprisespegs 14 having a variety oflengths 24. Thepegs 14 may be cylindrically shaped, as is shown inFIG. 3 , although the present invention anticipatespegs 14 having alternative shapes, such as, but not limited to, rectangular or triangular prism shaped, and the like. Eachpeg 14 has anend 26 distal from theboard 12. Thepeg 14 is tapered adjacent to theend 26 so that theend 26 is circumferentially smaller than thepeg 14 is proximate to theend 26. As will become apparent, tapering of thepegs 14 increases potential contact with aring 16 when thering 16 is tossed. - The present invention anticipates a plurality of
holes 28 extending into theupper face 20 of theboard 12. Theholes 28 are sized complementarily to thepegs 14 so that thepegs 14 are selectively insertable into theholes 28 to engage thepegs 14 to theboard 12 in one of a variety of possible configurations. The flexibility allowed in positioning of thepegs 14 provides for a variety of configurations, which can be used to adjust a difficulty level of a game or to enable different types of games. Theholes 28 may be positioned in a plurality ofconcentric circles 30, as is shown inFIG. 4 , or in other arrangements, such as, but not limited to, parallel row positioning, random positioning, and the like. - A
respective ring 16 is configured to be grasped in digits of a hand of a user, positioning the user to toss therespective ring 16 in an attempt to position therespective ring 16 around a respective one of the plurality ofpegs 14. A successful toss, wherein therespective ring 16 encircles arespective peg 14, is known as a “ringer”. Games played with the ringtoss game assembly 10 may include scoring of a “leaner”, which is aring 16 that is touching apeg 14 without encircling it. - The
rings 16 may be substantially circularly shaped, as is shown inFIG. 1 , or alternatively shaped, such as, but not limited to, squarely shaped, triangularly shaped, and the like. Eachring 16 has a respective inner diameter 32 so that the plurality ofrings 16 comprisesrings 16 having a variety of inner diameters 32. Therings 16 comprise rubber, silicone, flexible elastomer, other flexible material, rigid elastomer, wood, metal, or other substantially rigid material.Rings 16 having a larger inner diameter 32 and comprising flexible material have a higher probability of engaging apeg 14 upon tossing of thering 16. - The plurality of
rings 16 may comprise afirst set 34 ofrings 16, asecond set 36 ofrings 16, and athird set 38 ofrings 16. Therings 16 of thefirst set 34 comprise rubber, silicone, or flexible elastomer and have equivalent inner diameters 32. Therings 16 of thesecond set 36 comprise rubber, silicone, or flexible elastomer, and have equivalent inner diameters 32. Therings 16 of thesecond set 36 have smaller inner diameters 32 than therings 16 of thefirst set 34. Therings 16 of thethird set 38 comprise rigid elastomer, wood, or metal, and have equivalent inner diameters 32. Therings 16 of thethird set 38 have inner diameters 32 equivalent to those of therings 16 of thesecond set 36. - The
first set 34, thesecond set 36, and thethird set 38 ofrings 16 thus provide easy, medium, and hard difficulty levels in achieving a successful toss. Eachring 16 of thefirst set 34 may have an inner diameter 32 of 3.81 centimeters, while eachring 16 of thesecond set 36 and of thethird set 38 may have an inner diameter 32 of 2.86 centimeters. The present invention also anticipates other combinations of inner diameters 32 for thefirst set 34, thesecond set 36, and thethird set 38 ofrings 16. - A
wall 40 is engaged to, extends around, and extends substantially perpendicularly from aperimeter 42 of theboard 12. Thewall 40 is configured to retain tossedrings 16 upon theboard 12, which is particularly beneficial when the ringtoss game assembly 10 is used on a tabletop. Thewall 40 is substantially transparent and has aheight 44 of from 2.54 to 7.62 centimeters. Thewall 40 may have aheight 44 of approximately 5.08 centimeters. - The ring
toss game assembly 10 may be used in any manner which is entertaining to the users, but also may comprise a set ofrules 46 for playing a ring toss game. For example, thefirst set 34 ofrings 16 may be assigned to younger, less experienced, or less skilled users, thesecond set 36 ofrings 16 to users having a medial level of experience or skill in tossing, and thethird set 38 ofrings 16 to users having a high level of experience or skill in tossing. Additionally, scoring can be based on thecolor 22 of thepeg 14 that is ringed. Games can be played wherein specific actions are associated with thecolor 22 of thepeg 14 that is ringed, as is shown inFIG. 4 . - In use, the ring
toss game assembly 10 enables amethod 48 of playing a ring toss game. Themethod 48 comprises afirst step 50 of providing a ringtoss game assembly 10 according to the specification above. Asecond step 52 of themethod 48 is providing a set ofrules 46 for playing a ring toss game. Athird step 54 of themethod 48 is tossing therings 16 and scoring the tosses according to the set ofrules 46. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
Claims (18)
1. A ring toss game assembly comprising:
a board;
a plurality of pegs, each peg being engaged to and extending substantially perpendicularly from an upper face of the board; and
a plurality of rings, wherein a respective ring is configured for grasping in digits of a hand of a user, positioning the user for tossing the respective ring in an attempt to position the respective ring around a respective one of the plurality of pegs.
2. The ring toss game assembly of claim 1 , wherein:
the board is substantially circularly shaped;
the rings are substantially circularly shaped;
each ring has a respective inner diameter, such that the plurality of rings comprises rings having a variety of inner diameters; and
each peg has a respective color, such that the plurality of pegs comprises pegs having a variety of colors.
3. The ring toss game assembly of claim 1 , wherein:
the board has a width of from 20.00 to 42.00 centimeters; and
the pegs extend from the board from 1.27 to 3.20 centimeters.
4. The ring toss game assembly of claim 3 , wherein:
the board has a width of approximately 28.00 centimeters; and
the pegs extend from the board approximately 2.54 centimeters.
5. The ring toss game assembly of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of pegs comprises pegs colored red, orange, green, yellow, purple, white, and blue.
6. The ring toss game assembly of claim 1 , wherein each peg has an end distal from the board, the peg being tapered adjacent to the end, such that the end is circumferentially smaller than the peg proximate to the end.
7. The ring toss game assembly of claim 1 , further including a plurality of holes extending into the upper face of the board, the holes being sized complementarily to the pegs, such that the pegs are selectively insertable into the holes for engaging the pegs to the board in one of a variety of possible configurations.
8. The ring toss game assembly of claim 7 , wherein the holes are positioned in a plurality of concentric circles.
9. The ring toss game assembly of claim 2 , wherein the rings comprise rubber, silicone, flexible elastomer, rigid elastomer, wood, or metal.
10. The ring toss game assembly of claim 9 , wherein the plurality of rings comprises:
a first set of rings, each ring of the first set comprising rubber, silicone, or flexible elastomer, the rings of the first set having equivalent inner diameters;
a second set of rings, each ring of the second set comprising rubber, silicone, or flexible elastomer, the rings of the second set having equivalent inner diameters, the rings of the second set having smaller inner diameters than the rings of the first set; and
a third set of rings, each ring of the third set comprising rigid elastomer, wood, or metal, the rings of the third set having equivalent inner diameters, the rings of the third set having inner diameters equivalent to the rings of the second set.
11. The ring toss game assembly of claim 10 , wherein:
each ring of the first set has an inner diameter of 3.81 centimeters; and
each ring of the second set has an inner diameter of 2.86 centimeters.
12. The ring toss game assembly of claim 1 , further including a wall engaged to, extending around, and extending substantially perpendicularly from, a perimeter of the board, wherein the wall is configured for retaining tossed rings upon the board.
13. The ring toss game assembly of claim 12 , wherein the wall is substantially transparent.
14. The ring toss game assembly of claim 12 , wherein the wall has a height of from 2.54 to 7.62 centimeters.
15. The ring toss game assembly of claim 14 , wherein the wall has a height of approximately 5.08 centimeters.
16. The ring toss game assembly of claim 1 , further including a set of rules for playing a ring toss game.
17. A method of playing a ring toss game comprising:
providing a ring toss game assembly comprising:
a board,
a plurality of pegs, each peg being engaged to and extending substantially perpendicularly from an upper face of the board, and
a plurality of rings, wherein a respective ring is configured for grasping in digits of a hand of a user, positioning the user for tossing the respective ring in an attempt to position the respective ring around a respective one of the plurality of pegs;
providing a set of rules for playing a ring toss game; and
tossing the rings and scoring the tosses according to the set of rules.
18. A ring toss game assembly comprising:
a board, the board being substantially circularly shaped, the board having a width of from 20.00 to 42.00 centimeters, the board having a width of approximately 28.00 centimeters;
a plurality of pegs, each peg being engaged to and extending substantially perpendicularly from an upper face of the board, each peg having a respective color, such that the plurality of pegs comprises pegs having a variety of colors, the plurality of pegs comprising pegs colored red, orange, green, yellow, purple, white, and blue, each peg having an end distal from the board, the peg being tapered adjacent to the end, such that the end is circumferentially smaller than the peg proximate to the end, the pegs extending from the board from 1.27 to 3.20 centimeters, the pegs extending from the board approximately 2.54 centimeters;
a plurality of holes extending into the upper face of the board, the holes being sized complementarily to the pegs, such that the pegs are selectively insertable into the holes for engaging the pegs to the board in one of a variety of possible configurations, the holes being positioned in a plurality of concentric circles;
a plurality of rings, wherein a respective ring is configured for grasping in digits of a hand of a user, positioning the user for tossing the respective ring in an attempt to position the respective ring around a respective one of the plurality of pegs, the rings being substantially circularly shaped, each ring having a respective inner diameter, such that the plurality of rings comprises rings having a variety of inner diameters, the rings comprising rubber, silicone, flexible elastomer, rigid elastomer, wood, or metal, the plurality of rings comprising:
a first set of rings, each ring of the first set comprising rubber, silicone, or flexible elastomer, the rings of the first set having equivalent inner diameters, each ring of the first set having an inner diameter of 3.81 centimeters,
a second set of rings, each ring of the second set comprising rubber, silicone, or flexible elastomer, the rings of the second set having equivalent inner diameters, the rings of the second set having smaller inner diameters than the rings of the first set, each ring of the second set having an inner diameter of 2.86 centimeters; and
a third set of rings, each ring of the third set comprising rigid elastomer, wood, or metal, the rings of the third set having equivalent inner diameters, the rings of the third set having inner diameters equivalent to the rings of the second set;
a wall engaged to, extending around, and extending substantially perpendicularly from, a perimeter of the board, wherein the wall is configured for retaining tossed rings upon the board, the wall being substantially transparent, the wall having a height of from 2.54 to 7.62 centimeters, the wall having a height of approximately 5.08 centimeters; and
a set of rules for playing a ring toss game.
