  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a grip that is hollow and the grip has a slot extending into an interior of the grip to insertably receive handles of a plastic bag. In this way the grip facilitates a user to carry a plurality of plastic bags with one hand. A pad is positioned in the grip and the handles of the plastic bags rest thereon when the handle of the plastic bags is positioned in the grip. Moreover, the pad is comprised of an abrasive material to inhibit the handle of the plastic bags from sliding along the pad.
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a grocery bag carrying assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a bottom perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is a right side view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 4 is a front phantom view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 5 is a cross sectional view taken along line 5-5 of FIG. 4 of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 6 is a perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new carrying device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the grocery bag carrying assembly 10 generally comprises a grip 12 that is hollow. The grip 12 has a slot 14 extending into an interior of the grip 12 to insertably receive handles 16 of a plastic bag 18. In this way the grip 12 facilitates a user to carry a plurality of plastic bags 18 with one hand. The plastic bags 18 may be grocery bags or any other type of plastic bags 18 that are commonly carried from a vehicle into a house or the like.
  • The grip 12 has a bottom wall 20 and a pair of sidewalls 22, and each of the sidewalls 22 extends upwardly from a perimeter edge 24 of the bottom wall 20 and each of the sidewalls 22 extends along a full length of the bottom wall 20. Each of the sidewalls 22 has a distal edge 26 with respect to the bottom wall 20 and an inward surface 27, and the inward surface 27 of each of the sidewalls 22 is directed toward each other. Moreover, each of the sidewalls 22 is bent inwardly adjacent to the distal edge 26 such that the distal edge 26 of each of the sidewalls 22 is directed toward each other.
  • Each of the sidewalls 22 is concavely arcuate with respect to each other such that the distal edge 26 of each of the sidewalls 22 is biased toward each other. Additionally, the grip 12 is comprised of a resiliently bendable material thereby facilitating the distal edge 26 of each of the sidewalls 22 to be urged apart from each other to define the slot 14 extending between the sidewalls 22. Each of the sidewalls 22 has a first lateral edge 28 and a second lateral edge 30. Each of the first lateral edge 28 and the second lateral edge 30 of each of the sidewalls 22 angles inwardly between the bottom wall 20 of the grip 12 and the distal edge 26 of the sidewalls 22. Thus, the grip 12 has a trapezoidal cross section taken along a line extending through each of the sidewalls 22.
  • The inward surface 27 of each of the sidewalls 22 has a ridge 32 extending outwardly therefrom, and the ridge 32 on the inward surface 27 of each of the sidewalls 22 is aligned the distal edge 26 of the sidewalls 22. The ridge 32 tapers to a point 34 and the point 34 defined by the ridge 32 on each of the sidewalls 22 abuts each other. The ridge 32 on each of the sidewalls 22 has an upper surface 36 and the upper surface 36 of the ridge 32 on each of the sidewalls 22 slopes downwardly between the distal edge 26 of the sidewall and the point 34. Thus, the upper surface 36 of the ridge 32 on each of the sidewalls 22 defines a channel 38 to enhance extending the handles 16 of the plastic bags 18 between the sidewalls 22.
  • The bottom wall 20 has a lower surface 40 and the lower surface 40 has a plurality of depressions 42 therein. The depressions 42 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed along the bottom wall 20. In this way each of the depressions 42 has a respective one of the user's fingers positioned therein for enhancing gripping the grip 12.
  • A pad 44 is positioned in the grip 12 and the handle 16 of the plastic bags 18 rest thereon when the handle 16 of the plastic bags 18 is positioned in the grip 12. The pad 44 is comprised of an abrasive material to inhibit the handle 16 of the plastic bags 18 from sliding along the pad 44. The pad 44 is positioned on an upper surface 46 of the bottom wall 20 having the pad 44 is positioned between the sidewalls 22. Additionally, the pad 44 extends along a full length of the bottom wall 20.
  • In use, the handles 16 of each plastic bag 18 are urged downwardly between the sidewalls 22 until all of the plastic bags 18 are attached to the grip 12. Thus, the grip 12 can be gripped by the user to more easily carry a plurality of plastic bags 18. Additionally, the depressions 42 on the bottom wall 20 enhances the user's ability to grasp the grip 12. The pad 44 on the grip 12 frictionally engages the handles 16 of each plastic bag 18 to inhibit the handles 16 of each plastic bag 18 from sliding in the grip 12.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
