This invention relates to improvements in outdoor advertising structures, and particularly to that type of structure known as poster panels, in which a plurality of poster panels are mounted on a metallic framework, with the'borders' of the structure provided with molding.

The present invention particularly relates to means for and the manner of positlonmg the lower or bottom molding relatively to the poster panels, and means for securing the molding to the supporting framework.

In the accompanying drawing, which lllustrates an application of my invention:

Referring to the drawing, 5 designates the uprights of a steel framing, and 6 the horizontal bars secured thereto and entering into the construction of the framework. On this framework are disposed a plurality of poster panels 7 Panels 7 are secured to the framework by suitable means, not shown.

8 designates a hollow metal molding, preferably formed of sheet metal, adapted to be positioned at the lower ends of the poster panels and be secured to the framework. As

illustrated and as preferred, this molding comprises a box-like structure 9 and a curved upwardly extending member 10, having at its upper edge a downwardly depending flange 11. Flange 11 is formed or otherwise provided with a plurality of spaced-apart projecting members 12. The purpose of the projecting members 12 is to space the upper portion or the depending flange 11 of the molding a slight distance away from the faces of the poster panels. This provides a construction whereby the said upper portion of the molding is spaced away from the faces of the poster panels, and permits paste, employed in pasting the posters to the panels, to run down between the faces of the panels and the/said upper portion of the molding, instead of running over the front of the panel and spoilou'rnoon Anvnnrrsiires'rnuo'runn 193 S ar les ing' the appearance thereof, as has heretofore been the case.

The molding is adapted to be secured to the framework by means of a bracket construction including a Z-member 13, secured to an upright 5 by a bolt 14, an L-member 15, and an irregularly shaped member 16, the latter conforming in part to the configuration of the hollow molding. 17 designates a bolt passed through an upper flat portion 18 of member 16 and through a vertically eXtendmg portion 19 of the L-member 15. The L-member is fastened to said member 16 by a headed bolt 20.

The bracket structure is adapted to receive the hollow molding and the molding may be secured to the bracket by means of small boltsentered in an opening 21 of the moldmg and a corresponding opening 22 of member 16.

From the foregoing, it will be seen that when the molding is positioned on the brackets, there will be, due to the projections 12, a slight space a between the faces of the panels 7 and the flanged portion 11 of the hollow metal molding, thus permitting the paste employed for pasting the posters to the panels to fall therebetween without coming into contact with the outer surface of the moldmg. Prior to my invention, the corrosive action of the paste on the outer painted iurface of the molding disfigured said surace.

I claim:

1. In an outdoor advertising structure ineluding a framing, the combination wlt'h a poster panel and a bottom hollow metal molding therefor overlapping the panel, of means for spacing the upper portion of the molding away from the face of the panel, and means for securing the molding to the framing.

2. In an outdoor advertising structure including a framing, the combinationwith a poster panel, a bottom hollow metal molding therefor, said molding having a depending upper flange and means thereon for spacing the flange from the panel, and means for securing the molding to the framing.

3. In an outdoor advertising structure ineluding a framing, the combination with a poster panel, a bottom hollow metal molding therefor formed with spaced-apart projections for spacing the upper edge of the molding from the panel, and means for securing the molding to the framing.

4:. In an outdoor advertising structure including a framing, the combination with a poster panel ofa hollow metal bottom molding therefor overlapping the panel, the upper portion of said molding being spaced away from the face of the panel, andmeans for securing the molding to the framing.
