Description

UNITED STATES PATENT ,QFFIGE,
JOSEPH VINCENT BBOWNE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND GEORGE W. ROSS, OF MAGOG, CANADA.
IMPROVEMENT IN MUClLAGE-HO LDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 179,892, dated J nly 18, 1876; application filed May 16, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH VINCENT BROWNE, ot' the city, county, and State ot'New York, have invented a new and Improved Mucilage-Bottle, of which the following is a specification:
or other means, and compressing air in the bottle by quickly putting on the cap, and then opening the vent to let the air escape, when it forces some of the mucilage along with it into the sponge.
The cork has a shoulder fitting on the top of the bottle, to prevent it from being pressed into the bottle too far, and to facilitate the removal of it for refilling the bottle.
The bottle is designed to lie. on the side to prevent the mucilage from draining back into the bottle, and it has a round bottom to prevent it from sitting upright.
The drawing is a sectional elevation of the cork and cap, and upper part of the bottle and side elevation of the lower part.
A is the cork; B, a hole through the center lengthwise, which is bushed with metal and closed at the bottom, except a small passage,
0. D is the sponge, which is tacked or otherwise fastened to the top of the cork; and E is the cap which has a small vent-hole, F, in the top. G is the shoulder of the cork, and H is the oval bottom of the bottle.
As the bottle lies on its side and the sponge is protected from the air by the cap, so as to prevent evaporation of the mucilage, the sponge will generally contain a small supply; but, when the greater quantity is required, the cap'is used, as above stated, to obtain it.
Having'thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A bottle-cork having hole B O, in combina tion with a sponge, D, and apertured cap E F, arranged in connection with a mucilage-bottle, substantially as and for the purpose speci-- tied.
