This invention relates-to safety razo'rsand is more particularly concerned with the pro-- vision of a razor structurally economical for" manufacture and functionally advantageous for use.
An'object of the invention is to provide a razor comprising a blade holder structurally simple and capable of manufacture by the metal stamping operations so largely used today, which holder embodies certain novel and advantageous features hereinafter pointed out and efiective to improve the shaving operation. I
As used today, the highest cutting eh iclen'cy of the razor blade is prevented by the accumulation thereon of lather and hair. The lather has performed its task before the blade reaches it and it is not necessary to the edge of the blade in its hair severing action. While from the standpoint of every-day and every- Way use of safety razors, it is impossible, practically, entirely to prevent the accumulation of lat-her upon the razor edge, the construction provided for by the present invention among its features embodies'means normally tending to prevent such accumulation and effective largely to reduce it. This construction also has an objective, the support of a blade with its edges free and unhampered' by holder cutting edge of the blade and have used a positioning bar which cooperates with the clip edge and leaves the razor edge free and unobstructed. In maintaining a blade so positioned on the holder, he retaining means used is held against displacement by the handle of the holder which is detachable and makes for compactness in the razor. The act of assembling or dis-assembling the razor of the present invention, therefore, results in the clamping or releasing of the blade retaining means.

Referring to the drawings :-In the form of the invention shown in Figs. 1-4l and 8, the blade holder comprises opposed platescon nected at their-upper ends and which may be formed bythe nsualexpedient of bending a strip of-metal upon itself. The uppermost plate 1 of the two constitutes the razor blade backing plate and the lower or underplate 2 connected therewith at thetopis preferably formed centrally with a pocket 3 therein by upsetting the material in a suitable press, this providing at this point, an offset in the rear plate This offset portion is reversely, upset to provide a handle socket 4t and inwardly extending boss 5 in continuation. The advantages achieved by the described constructions have been previously discussed in full and need not be repeated. The disclaim and desireto secure by Letters Patent attached to their ear edges, a blade holder having his forward edge provided with a raised cross bar arranged to engage the front edge oi the clip of a razor blade and to position said blade with its full cutting edge en tirely free and unattached, and a guard conected with the holder and having its guard edge positioned in advance of the cutting edge of the blade and out of contact therewith.
