The present invention relates to automatic cut-offs for stop cocks, thermostatically and electrically co-ntrolled, and the purpose of the invention is to provide a stop cock including a valve under tension in order to hold the valve in a normally rclosed position, with mechanical means for holding the valve open to permitthe passing of fluid through the valve, which fluid may be water, oil or the like, there being an electrically controlled member, of which its rcircuit may be thermostatically closed, whereby the mechanical means may he released allowing the valve to automatically close and thereby cut oit the passage ot fluid.
It is to be understood that the particulars herein given are in no way limitive, and that while still keeping within the scope of the invention, any desired modiiication of details and proportions may be made in the construction of the appliance according to circumstances.

Referring to the drawings, 1 identities a heater which may be any conventional type and 2 a burner and 3 a pipe line leading to the burner for the conduction of a fluid, such as gas to the burner. The pipe line 8 has a conventional type of valve fl for permitting the entrance of the gas to the burner, said valve comprising a casing 5 and a valve `proper 6. The valve proper 6 has a handle 7 rotating therewith provided with a gravity pawl 8 pivotally mounted thereon.

A bracket 13 of U form is secured to they the gravity pawl 8 and disengages it iti-oni the shoulder, hence releasing the lever and the valve and allowing the valve to move to a closed position thereby shutting oit' the fiow of gas or other iluid through the pipe line. f
The electro-magnets are in circuit with a battery 2l by means of a wire or lead 22, while the battery is in turn in circuit with a thermostatically operated circuit closure 23 similar in construction to that disclosed in the patent to Anton Haslinger of August 9th, 1921, Patent No. 1,387,050, which in turn is so positioned relative to the heater, that as the temperature or" the heater increases, an expansible member 2l is expanded to engage with a contact for closing the circuit, energizing the electro-magnets attracting` the armature which engages with the pawl and hence disengages it from the shoulder and releases the lever and due to the valve being under tension the valve automatically rotates to a closed position and shuts oil1 the How of gas to the burner. lllhen the h Aater decreases in temperature the lever may again be set in its operative position, turning on the flow of gas, in which the burner may be lighted again, and thereby effecting the operation of the heater. l
The casing of the heater is in circuit with the Contact of the thermostatic control. rlhe casing of ythe heater is also in circuit with the pipe line, and movable with the valve stem is a cam 2G, which normally engages with a movable spring contact 27 for causing it to engage with the stationary contact 28, the latter being in circuit with the electro-magnets through the medium of a wire or lead 29. A suitable housing 30 is supported on the bracket inv any suitable manner, for instance by means of a screw o1, to protect tlie electroniagiiets against injury.
