WINDOW-SASH-LOCKING DEVICE;
an attachment for window sashes, the obj ect of which is to provide device for securely locking the upper and lower sashes together so that either one or both may be moved from the closed position, that is to say, the upper one may be moved downward, or the lower one moved upward, or the two may be moved together. In order to prevent the window from being opened and at the same time provide proper ventilation, the device herein shown is applicable. It comprises a member, preferably Ushaped, adapted to be secured to the upper sash and a second member adapted to be secured to the upper or mid-rail of the lower sash and so attached that it may be swung or rotated into engagement with the U-shaped member of the upper sash. Means is also provided for drawing the two sashes toward each other when in looking engagement.

This arm 17 swings into the space between the plates 5 and 6, shown in' Fig. 2, when in looking use andthe enlarged portion 18 then drops into the cut-out part 11 of the lower plate 6 and the shoulder portion 19' engages the inner edge 20, it being understood that the rigid arm 17 slightly bends the flexible plate 6 downward in order to lock the two sashes together and to prevent their being shaken apart by an intruder.
