This invention relates Generall to wagb D ons, and particularlyto the braking mechanism thereof. Y
The invention has for its primary object to provide a brake shoe which may be Vconveniently and easily attached to or detached from the bra-ke beam of a vehicle, to facilitate repairing the same.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a device of the character setforth, wherein the brake shoe or block may be held securely to the brake beam.
A further object of the invention is to provide a brake block or shoe having iniproved means for supporting a wear plate thereto, whereby the plate may be removed when worn and supplemented by a new plate.
With these objects in View together with others which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the novel combination and arrangement of partsall as will be described more fully hereinafter, illustrated in the drawings, and particularly pointed out in the claims.
The invention will be best understood byl reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure l is a planvview of the rear end of a conventional form of wagon, illustrating a brake-beam equipped with mechanism constructed and arranged in accordance with the invention, Fig. Q is an enlarged horizontal section through the brake beam and illustrating the detail construction of the improved brake block or shoe and its cordinate parts, and Fig. 3 is a rear elevation of the device shown in Fig. 2.

The coil spring 12 maybe seated at its opposite end against the inner bracket 11. The collar-may be adjusted and held in its various positions longitudinallyof the slidable member 10 by means of a set screw 14.
