COIN-PURSE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 9, 19H5.
Application filed September 24, 1913. Serial No. 791,477.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES H. MAXFIELD, a citizen of the United States, residing at National Military I-Iome, in the county of Montgomery and State'of Chio, have invented certain new and useful Improve ments in Coin-Purses; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention7 such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and ligures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to a purse tol be worn upon the person beneath the clothing when traveling or moving from' place to place and comprises a means for carrying money or valuables safely upon the person at such times.
The object of the invention is to provide a safety purse which will remain closed and from. which the contents are not liable to become displaced regardless of the position of the body of the wearer whether occupying a berth in a sleeping car or walking about or being in any place where it necessitates the safe and secret keeping of such valuables.
Referring to the accompanying' drawings, Figure l is a front elevation of the purse in a closed position; Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the purse in the open position and Fig. 3 is a section on the line a-a of Fig. l.
Referringvmore particularly to the drawings, the purse consists of a front portion l and a rear portion 2 which are integrally united at the bottom and by seams 8 along their sides thereby forming a pocket in which coin or currency may be placed. EX- tending from the rear portion 2 is a flap 43 which, when the purse is closed, is folded over the upper edge of the front portion l thereof, thus closing the mouth of the pocket. The flap 3 is maintained closed and the purse as a whole is suspended by a cord or tape 7 which may be of a length suffcient to pass around the neck of the wearer. The said tape 7 is endless and passes through eyelets 6 in the rear portion 2, eyelets 5 in the front portion 1, and eyelets 4 in the flap 3. The said eyelets ll, 5 and 6 are in direct alinement when the flap 3 lies against the front portion 1, thereby permitting the cord or tape 7 to pass directly through the purse and extend upwardly through the pocket of the purse and around the neck. By thus uniting the purse and tape, the purse will lie perfectly flat and secure and may be easily opened by the wearer.
Having described my invention, I claim: A purse, the front and rear united portions of which form a pocket, the said rear portion having an extension forming a closure flap for said pocket, and the said front, reark and flap portions having each` two eyelets, the distance between said eyelets being greater than the distance between said eyelets and the vertical edges of the pocket, the eyelets of the front and rear portions being in permanent alinement and those in the closure flap being arranged to aline with thosein the front and rear portions when the purse is closed, and an endless suspenf sion band passing through said eyelets and extending lengthwise of the closure flap, whereby the contents of the suspended purse willk have the effect of .maintaining the mouth of the purse securely closed.
In testimony whereof I aHiX my signature, f
in presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES H. MAXFIELD. Vitnesses:
Maman GALLowAY, MATTHEW SInBLER.
