To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ERNEST WV. PAnnL- Form, a citizen of the United States, residing at Attleboro, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented cer tain new and useful Improvements in Buckles, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to buckles or clasps for belts and similar articles.

The essential objects of my invention are to enable the belt to be readily adjusted by merely sliding one member relatively to the other; to insure a continuous and positive clamping action of the buckle upon the belt; to avoid the use of solder; and to attain the desired endsin a simple and inexpensive. structure.

To the above ends essentially my invention consists in such parts and combinations of parts as fall Within the scope of the appended claims.

In the accompanying drawings which form a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a buckle embodying my invention, Figs. 2 and 3, top and bottom elevations of the same, Fig.4, a rear' elevation. Figs. 5 and 6, sections of the same on line w m of Fig. 4, showing the parts in open and clamped positions respec tively, and Fig. 7 a detail View of the clamp ing member.

My device comprises a curved face plate A having rearwardly directed top and bottom flanges B. provided with spaced longitudinally disposed slots 6 near their rear margin. together with oppositely disposed perforations 1) intermediate the slots, and somewhat nearer the face plate than the slots. A slidable back plate C has lateral lugs or projections c registering in the slots, and slidable therein. Upon the end of the back plate is a loop D adapted to receive one end e of a belt E. The opposite end of the belt is represented by the reference character e. Centrally located in the plate C is a transverse slot 7.
