Abstract

The cutter is for lathe work and comprises a polygonal body of hard, wear-resistant material, which has an upper surface (12) and a lower surface and a number of edge surfaces joining them. At least one rounded cutting corner (11) provided with a nose cutting edge (19) has a nose part with an area for two edge surface cutting sectors. The cutting corner defines a bisectrix. At least one recess (29) is arranged in a support surface (16) in the upper surface (12) at a distance from the nose cutting edge. The recess has a general extent in the direction of the nose part. The recess is rectangular access to a cooling jet directed towards the nose part. The recess is rectangular and in the direction of the nose part has successively increasing depth. The number of recesses is 1 to 5 pieces. Two swarf breaking segments (22A,22B) are arranged in the lower and upper surfaces, are rectangular, with an aperture between them.
