Abstract

A method and apparatus for non-contact Diffuse Optical Tomography imaging is disclosed. A target, such as biological tissue to be imaged, is illuminated with a modulated light beam and a diverging modulated light. A first image and a second image of the respectively illuminated target is captured with an image capture device where the images have at least one pixel containing amplitude and phase information. Distance information relating to the position of the image capture device relative to the target is determined using information contained in the second image, and internal characteristics of the target determined using information contained in the first image in combination with the distance information.
