Abstract

La presente invención proporciona un método para la producción de plantas de S. lycopersicum que tienen un índice simpodial de 2 y producen frutas de color rojo que comprende cruzar una planta de S. lycopersicum capaz de producir frutas de color rojo, con una planta de Solanum spp. que tiene un índice simpodial de 2, recoger las semillas que resultan del cruce, regenerar las semillas en las plantas, proporcionar una o más generaciones de retrocruce, autofertilizar las plantas de retrocruce, cultivar la semilla autofertilizada dentro de las plantas que tienen un índice simpodial promedio de 2, y producen frutas de color rojo.
