Description

리튬이차전지용 음극활물질, 그의 제조방법 및 그를 포함하는 리튬이차전지{NEGATIVE ELECTRODE ACTIVE MATERIAL FOR LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY, METHOD OF PREPARING THE SAME, AND LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY COMPRISING THE SAME}A negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, a method of manufacturing the same, and a lithium secondary battery including the same {NEGATIVE ELECTRODE ACTIVE MATERIAL FOR LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY, METHOD OF PREPARING THE SAME, AND LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY COMPRISING THE SAME}

The present invention relates to a negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, a manufacturing method thereof, and a lithium secondary battery including the same.

Lithium secondary batteries are small, lightweight, and large capacity batteries, and have been widely used as power sources for portable electronic devices since the first commercial lithium secondary batteries appeared in 1991 by Sony, Japan. Recently, with the rapid development of electronics, telecommunications, and computer industry, mobile phones, notebook PCs, etc. have emerged, and they are developing remarkably. As a result, the demand for lithium secondary batteries increases as a power source to drive these portable electronic information communication devices. Doing.

In particular, the market size of eco-friendly electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles is rapidly growing due to the instability of international oil prices and global environmental regulations, which are dependent on global warming. Instead of the power generation / transmission and distribution system, in the future, the possibility of introducing a distributed generation system, especially a smart grid system, is expanding, and thus, technology development of a secondary battery for energy storage has become very important.

Among the technical fields of the secondary battery for energy storage, the development of new technologies that can improve the performance of electrode materials and lower the price is becoming more important.

Lithium secondary batteries are prepared by reversibly inserting and detaching lithium ions as a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and filling an organic electrolyte or polymer electrolyte between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and lithium ions are inserted / desorbed from the positive electrode and the negative electrode. When generated, the electrical energy is generated by the oxidation / reduction reaction.

As a cathode active material of a lithium secondary battery, a chalcogenide compound is mainly used. For example, LiCoO 2 , LiMnO 2 , LiMn 2 O 4 , LiNiO 2 , LiNi 1 - x Co x O 2 (0 <x < Composite metal oxides such as 1) are used.

Previously, lithium metal was used as a negative electrode active material. However, when lithium metal is used, a battery short circuit occurs due to the formation of dendrite, which may cause explosion, and has been replaced with carbon-based or silicon-based materials instead of lithium metal.

Carbon-based active materials used as negative electrode active materials for lithium secondary batteries include crystalline carbon such as natural graphite and artificial graphite, soft carbon that can be graphitized through heat treatment, and hard carbon that cannot be graphitized. There is an amorphous carbon such as.

Particularly, graphite has been continuously used as a negative electrode material for lithium secondary batteries for mobile devices, and natural graphite has replaced the artificial graphite because of its high theoretical capacity and a cost advantage, with a theoretical limit capacity of 372 mAh / g. However, both artificial graphite and natural graphite have a disadvantage that the insertion / desorption path of lithium ions is substantially two-dimensionally limited, and the life characteristics are weak due to the repeated expansion / contraction of the crystal lattice due to insertion / desorption.

Unlike graphite, on the other hand, amorphous carbon has a limited insertion / desorption path of lithium ions and an electrode that is difficult to swell, and thus can exhibit high power characteristics and a long life, especially under heat treatment below 800 ° C. There is an advantage of having a reversible capacity. On the other hand, since amorphous carbon has a variety of lithium insertion sites due to low crystallinity, there are also disadvantages in that efficiency is low due to trap sites that cannot be released after lithium is inserted. In other words, amorphous carbon has a large capacity, but has a disadvantage of large irreversibility in the charging and discharging process.

Sn, SnO 2 or Si system as an anode active material has the advantage that the capacity is more than two times higher than the conventional cathode. However, the conventional SnO or SnO 2 -based negative electrode active material has a disadvantage that the irreversible capacity not only occupies 65% or more of the total capacity, but also has a very poor lifespan.

Since the Si-based negative electrode active material is irreversible than the carbon-based negative electrode active material, the initial efficiency of the lithium secondary battery including the Si-based negative electrode active material is lower than the initial efficiency of the lithium secondary battery including the carbon-based negative electrode active material.

In addition, since the Si-based negative electrode active material causes swelling due to volume expansion and contraction during charge and discharge, the SEI (Solid Electrolyte Interphase) film formed on the surface of the cathode is destroyed and a new SEI film is formed again to form the SEI on the surface. The layer becomes thick. As a result, the life characteristics of the battery are deteriorated, there is a limitation of space due to volume expansion, and leakage of electrolyte may occur due to mechanical stress, thereby degrading battery performance.

Therefore, development of Si-based negative electrode active materials for increasing initial efficiency and improving lifetime is required.

In step S110 of the method of manufacturing a negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery according to an embodiment of the present invention, a lithium solution in which a lithium metal or a lithium compound is dissolved is prepared. The lithium solution in which the lithium metal or the lithium compound is dissolved refers to a solution in which lithium contains a lithium element by dissolving a metal or a compound containing lithium in a solvent.

The lithium metal or lithium compound may be used by mixing them.

For example, the lithium compound may include lithium hydroxide (LiOH), lithium carbonate (Li 2 CO 3 ), lithium nitrate (LiNO 3 ), lithium acetate (lithium acetate, LiCH). 3 CO 2 ) and combinations thereof may be used.

In step S110, a lithium solution containing a lithium element may be prepared by dissolving a lithium metal or a lithium compound in a solvent.

The solvent may be an amine. As the amine solvent, liquid ammonia (Liquid NH 3 , -76 ℃), methylamine (Methylamine, CH 3 NH 2 ), ethylenediamine (Ethylenediamine, C 2 H 4 (NH 2 ) 2 ), ethylamine (Ethylamine, C 2 H 5 NH 2 ) Dimethylamine (C 2 H 6 NH), N-propylamine (N-Propylamine, C 3 H 7 NH 2 ), Hydrazine (H 2 N-NH 2 ) and their Any one selected from the group consisting of combinations can be used.

For example, in step S110, lithium metal may be dissolved in an ethylenediamine solvent to prepare a lithium solution including a lithium element.
