Abstract

PURPOSE:To clean the surface of a lens so as to prevent the adhesion of toner, etc., and to eliminate the need for operations for cleaning and exchanging the lens by installing a cleaning member on a shutter which opens the light output surface of a scanning optical system only at the time of producing an image. CONSTITUTION:The laser light beam of a laser optical system 1 is reflected by a reflecting mirror 2 and radiated on a photosensitive body 4 through the lens 3. The shutter 5 and the cleaning pad 51, whose end parts are supported by supporting members 6, are arranged on the light output surface 31 and they are usually blocked by a spring 7. When a current is applied to a solenoid 8 at the time of producing the image, the shutter 5 and the pad 51 are moved in a direction shown by an arrow A and opens the light output surface 31 simultaneously with cleaning the lens 3. Thus, the adhesion of the toner and dust, etc., to the surface of the lens can be prevented to the utmost and troublesome operations for cleaning and exchanging the lens can be eliminated.
