Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the safety by actuating a control force adjusting means so as to give predetermined resistance to controlling a steering wheel when the steering wheel obtains its steering angle reaching a value generating the possibility of slipping in a rear wheel corresponding to a road surface condition and a car speed. CONSTITUTION:A control force adjusting means 4 is built in a pinion shaft 21 in a steering gear mechanism 2 of rack and pinion type. This control force adjusting means 4 is constituted urging a plunger 44 to a side of the pinion shaft 21 giving it resistance force by pressure oil from a pump P so as to give the predetermined resistance to controlling a steering wheel 1 when a return passage 48 is closed by excitation of a solenoid 51 of a solenoid valve 5. When a steering angle is detected by a controller 9 to reach a value generating the possibility of a rear wheel slipping from outputs of a road surface condition detector 6, car speed detector 7 and a steering angle detector 8, the solenoid valve 5 is energized, applying a brake so as to generate the heavier control force of steering.
