Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently cool a surface to be ground and reduce the grinding burn by arranging a plurality of small plate-like grinding members at given intervals on a lower surface of a base along a substantially outer circumference thereof, and forming guide holes for guiding a coolant liquid discharged from a discharge hole of a spindle to the lower surface of a grinding wheel. CONSTITUTION:Small-diameter cylindrical grinding members 14 of a grinding wheel 9 are arranged on a bottom surface of a base 11 along an outer circumference thereof. Accordingly, the grinding members 14 are brought into intermittent contact with an object 2 to be ground, thereby making easy application of a coolant liquid to a surface 3 of the object 3. Guide holes 13 are formed in the base 11 to extend from an inner circumferential surface of a space 19 of the base 11 to holes 15 of the grinding members 14. The coolant liquid is discharged under pressure from a discharge hole 6 of a spindle 5 into the space 19, and is guided by the guide holes 13 and the holes 15 of the grinding members 14 to be discharged out of the grinding wheel 9 from a lower end of each hole 15. As a result, the surface 3 may be cooled reliably and efficiently, and it is possible to prevent grinding burn and damage of the grinding wheel 9 and increase a grinding speed.
