Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate an individual error in brazing of copper pipes and to enable uniform brazing by depositing amorphous alloy foil for brazing on at least one end of the copper pipes to be connected to each other than connecting the copper pipes to each other and joining the pipes by heating. CONSTITUTION:The above-described amorphous alloy solder is exemplified by the foil formed by working an alloy consisting essentially of Cu, more preferably a Cu-Ni-Sn-P alloy by an ultra-quick cooling method to a foil strip having roughness. Amorphous alloy foil 2 for brazing is then stripped from backing paper 1 and is wound on the end of, for example, a copper pipe 4 to be inserted. Said end is inserted into the end of a copper pipe 3 and is heated to solder the ends. The foil 2 is preferably wound on the end of the pipe 4 so as to project slightly therefrom in this case. The brazing material used in this invention has an amorphous structure and has therefore good fluidity thus obviating substantially the split melting during brazing. The need for polishing the joint part of the copper pipe and coating a flux thereon is thus eliminated.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Brazing methods using capillary edges are widely used to join steel pipes. There are two types of soldering materials: hard solder and soft solder. For joining relatively large diameter pipes, hard solders such as phosphor copper solder and silver solder are used. For joining relatively small diameter pipes, tin, silver solder, and solder are used. Use soft wax like .

a. Pipe end correction → b. End polishing → C. Flux application →
d. Heating → e. Brazing. Among the above steps, omitting any one of steps a, b, and c will not result in a good bond, and there are individual differences in steps c and e. It is difficult to obtain a uniform product due to shortages and the amount of brazing material inserted.

To attach such foil to the steel pipe, cut it to the required length and wrap it around the steel pipe. As shown in FIG. 1, it can be used like a conventional release paper. That is, it is made by pasting a predetermined length of an amorphous alloy brazing member 2 on a base 1Ilt1 with an adhesive.

Effects Since the wax used in the present invention has an amorphous structure, it has good fluidity, and the phenomenon of melting and separation during waxing hardly occurs. Therefore, there is no need to polish or apply slack to the joints of the steel pipes, thereby eliminating the conventional necessary steps and eliminating product defects due to forgetting to apply flux.

The solder parts used in the present invention are highly flexible and have adhesive properties, so even if the joint has an uneven shape, the brazing material deforms to match the uneven shape and can be placed evenly on each part. Therefore, a homogeneous joint can be obtained. Furthermore, even if there is some gap at the joint, the brazing filler metal can be stacked one on top of the other, so that sufficient joining is possible.
