The insulating medium 20 is an outer conductor 9 with a coaxial cable 100
It is surrounded by an external contact 30 to which 2 is connected. The axes of the first internal contact io and the external contact 30 are substantially parallel. The external contact 30 is a hollow rectangular solid body with a cross section whose side dimensions are slightly smaller than the center-to-center distance of a standard male contact 80. This center-to-center distance may be on the order of 0.100".

An advanced conductor with 40 auxiliary contacts can be made from IJ. The shape of the auxiliary contact 40 is the external contact 3
0 contacts one of the standard male contacts arranged in a row, some of the auxiliary contacts 40 come into contact with some of the external contacts. For example, auxiliary contact 40
is shaped as a rectangular wave, and whenever external contact 30 connects to one of the standard male contacts, three of external contact 30
so that two axial surfaces contact the portion of the auxiliary contact 40,
- Can be mounted between rows of standard male contacts 80. Of course, other shapes that also provide sufficient contact between the auxiliary contact 40 and the external contact 30 are possible.

The advantage of the auxiliary contact 40 is that the outer conductors with several coaxial cables can be effectively coupled together and to electrical circuit components. This prevents wasted space that would occur if the outer conductors were coupled together separately or if each outer conductor was coupled separately to electrical circuit components. For example, the outer conductor is the socket 50 of the auxiliary contact 40.
can all be combined to ground by connecting them to a standard male contact that is grounded. This eliminates the need to ground each outer conductor separately.
