Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide golden colored external parts for timepieces at reduced costs and with good corrosion resistance by applying underlying plating of Cu- Sn and finish plating of Au or an Au alloy on said parts. CONSTITUTION:Underlying plating of >=2mu is applied by using a Cu-Sn alloy contg. 40-45% Sn on blank materials for watch cases, etc. Thereafter, finish plating of Au or an Au alloy of 23 carat Au-Ni alloy or the like is applied thereon to 0.2-1mu thickness, whereby golden colored external parts for timepieces are obtained. The external parts for timepieces plated by said method do not corrode and discolor against sweat. Since the Cu-Sn plating is applied under the finish plating, the finish plating of noble metals is made thin in thickness and the cost is reduced.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] The present invention relates to exterior parts for watches, particularly gold-colored exterior parts for watches that are inexpensive and have excellent corrosion resistance. Exterior parts for watches (cases, bands, dial rings) When using gold-plated materials such as tension rings, raw materials such as brass and nickel silver are used, and gold or gold alloy plating is used as the material. ing.

Conventionally, such gold plating has been applied using nickel plating as a base plating to a watch case material such as brass, with a difference in thickness of about 2 to 8 nm, as shown in Figure 1. The watch case was constructed by applying a 12 to 16 force rat gold-silver alloy plating 3 of about 3 microns A7 and then applying a two-karat gold-nickel alloy plating 4 of about 2 microns. In the case of such a watch case, since precious metals such as precious metals and gold alloys are thickly plated, there is a problem in that expensive plating and high wear and tear occur. In addition, if the case is finished with only a mirror surface, there is no particular problem with corrosion resistance, but if the case is finished with -S or a striped finish on most of the case, the aesthetic appearance of the conventional base plating may be affected. This has the disadvantage that the corrosion resistance is inferior to that of a mirror-finish case in that it cannot be plated thickly because of the damage to the metal. In addition, even if you use a type of nickel plating that has thick lines and is not damaged by plating, the plating will not adhere to the valleys of the lines (as a result, the same result will occur). There was a problem with poor corrosion resistance.

The present invention eliminates the above-mentioned drawbacks and achieves this! i: It was created as a result of various studies to provide a watch exterior part that can reduce I stress and has good corrosion resistance for all watch exterior parts with surface finish, and uses tin 40 as the base plating.
~45- Copper-tin alloy plating containing 2 microns or more, gold or gold alloy plating as a finishing tool,
It is characterized by applying 2 to 1 micron.

The copper-tin alloy plating containing 40 to 45% tin here refers to various copper-tin alloy platings such as copper cyanide-alkali stannate, copper cyanide-tin bitetraphosphate, or copper birophosphate-tin birophosphate. It's a tin alloy bath. The inventors
After conducting various studies on this type of metallurgy, we found that even with relatively light coloring, it is less likely to corrode due to sweat, etc., and this led to the present invention.

The steel-tin alloy plating used as the base plating is most preferably copper cyanide-alkali stannate, and the brightening agent is thiocyanate, polyethyleneimine compound, or nickel salt. This allows for thick plating without affecting the aesthetic appearance of the surface finish such as streaks.

As shown in Fig. 2, a watch case 1 made of a brass material with a partially streaked finish is coated with a steel-tin alloy containing 40 to 45 tin (5 tst) and a thickness of 2 tsp under the following plating bath and plating conditions.
Micron plating was carried out, and then 411-meter carat gold-nickel alloy plating was performed as a final plating.

When we conducted a corrosion resistance test using an artificial sweat immersion test on watch cases plated with a ~16 carat gold-silver alloy plate of 13 microns and an n-carat gold-nickel alloy plate of 2 microns, we found that the case of the present invention was immersed in artificial sweat for 5 days. No corrosion or discoloration occurred, but some dot-like corrosion occurred in the striped areas of the conventional product.
