Abstract
PURPOSE: To fill water in a coal storage pit built as a water vessel, throughout the storage of coal, and handle the coal in the water-drained pit at the time of convey-out of the coal.
CONSTITUTION: A coal storage pit 1 is formed with walls 1a, 1b as a water- tight container. An excavator 5 for conveying coal out, a belt conveyor 7, etc. are provided at the top of the pit 1. Shallow sumps 2 are provided at the four corners of the coal storage pit 1 to drain water. The water is separated by a filter 4 so that no pulverized coal flows into the shallow sumps 2. The water is lifted by a pump 3. When the sotred coal 6 is to be conveyed out, the water level W is lowered to a necessary position to facilitate the convey-out. To store the coal 6 under water, the water level W is heightened.
