Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve manufacturing efficiency and wear resistance by forming gap and magnetic floating surface by make use of hardness of ion etching according to selection of the material. CONSTITUTION:A synthetic base 31 is formed by steps in which side end surface of adhered glass 12 of second base 30 provided on a base 11 is lapped and levelled, aluminum oxide 13 having a thickness equal to length of the gap, is deposited on the base, and still another base is adhered to the covered part of the base. The synthetic base 31 is subject to ion milling to form a depression 12. A magnetic membrane 14 is lapped and separated by an insulating layer. The lapped surface is covered with an insulating layer 15 formed from aluminum oxide. Further, there is provided conductive layers 16, 18 in the form of coil thereon. Further, the insulating layers 16, 18 are applied as an insulating cover. In the next step, a magnetic membrane 20 is deposited for covering and further, another insulating layer 21 is applied to cover the part. Still further, a slider 23 is provided on a jointing layer 22 and floating surface 24 is formed by lapping the synthetic base 31 and a gap 25 by exposure of the magnetic membrane 14.
