Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent leakage flux and coercive force of a permanent magnet from reducing, by placing the permanent magnet by shifting it in the circumferential direction against a magnetic pole of a field coil and by separating a magnetic path in the stator side of the permanent magnet from that of a stator of the field coil. CONSTITUTION:In a fixed field system equipped with field coils wound on stator iron cores and permanent magnets performing initial excitation, the permanent magnets 7 are installed at the central position of an N pole iron core 11N and an S pole iron core 11S. The permanent magnets 7 are fixed to auxiliary yokes 12 forming magnetic paths on the stator side for said permanent magnet 7, and the auxiliary yokes 12 are fixed to the S pole iron cores 11S via non-magnetic material pieces 13. With such constitution, the auxiliary yokes 12 forming the stator side magnetic paths for the permanent magnets 7 and the iron cores 11N, 11S and a main yoke 10 forming the stator side magnetic paths for the field coils 6 are magnetically separated by the non-magnetic material pieces 13. Thus, since the permanent magnets 7 are between the iron cores 11N, 11S, and has independent magnetic paths, it is possible to reliably generate an initial excitation voltage.
