Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the internal EGR, stabilize the combustion, and improve the specific fuel consumption by dividing all cylinders into odd cylinder groups each of which having the same number of cylinders and by stopping the fuel injection into the following cylinder group in succession to the preceding cylinder group. CONSTITUTION:All cylinders of an internal combustion engine are divided into odd cylinder groups each of which having the same number of cylinders, and the fuel is injected into individual cylinder groups every time the engine revolves for a predetermined crank angle. Whether the fuel is injected or not into individual cylinder groups is controlled by whether load signals are sent out or not from the CPU 20 through control lines 63, 68, 74. If the injection is stopped into the following cylinder group after the fuel has been injected into the preceding cylinder group, the explosion would not occur for the same cylinder group in the preceding explosion stroke, resulting in no internal EGR generated. Thereby, the combustion is stabilized, the running characteristics is extensively improved, and the specific fuel consumption is also improved remarkably.
