Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the double feed of various types of paper in different thicknesses, by detecting the presence or absence the paper with the timing to feed the paper from a paper supply part. CONSTITUTION:A paper sensor 50-1 is set between a paper feed roller 30 provided to a cassette 28 and a double feed separating roller pair of 32 and 32'. The sensor 50-1 detects the presence or absence of the paper with the timing by which the paper is supplied from the roller 30. Then a double feed is decided in case the sensor detects no paper, and thus the feed of paper is discontinued. In such way, the double feed is detected for various types of paper of different thicknesses.
