Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain the cooling condition of blast furnace bottom optimum and prevent blast furnace foundation materials from deteriorating by sandwiching heat insulating materials between the blast furnace bottom and the foundation concrete and providing two layers of cooling fluid passageways which permit independent controlling of cooling capacities. CONSTITUTION:A heat insulating layer 7 is provided between a blast furnace bottom plate 3 and foundation concrete 8, and cooling pipes 5a are laid between the bottom plate 3 and the heat insulating layer 7 by using packing material 6 of >= 4kcal/m.hr. deg.C heat conductivity. Cooling pipes 5b are disposed on the foundation concrete 8 and the blast furnace bottom are cooled by the cooling pipes 5a and the foundation concrete 8 is cooled by the cooling pipes 5b. In response to the fluctuations in the thermal load to be applied upon the furnace bottom part with the fluctuations in the conditions of the blast furnace, the change of the cooling fluid in the cooling pipes 5a, 5b and the controlling of the flow rate of the cooling fluid are independently performed, whereby the foundation concrete 8 is independently held under controlled temp. so that the characteristics degradation due to high temp. is prevented and the normal blast furnace operations are maintained.
