Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the number of car components by sharing the rearside trime of a four-door car to that of a two-door car through the application of the configuration for the rear inner panels installed behind the rear cloor openings of a four-door car to the rear inner panels of a two-door car.
CONSTITUTION: A datum line L is previded for the rear inner panels 10 of a two- door car 8. The datum line L is identical to the basic line L of flanges 5 installed on the rear door openings 2 of a four-door car 1 on their same coordinates. The panel configurations behind the datum lines for the rear inner panels 4 and 10 are identical to each other. The configurations of the rear side trims 6 and 12b lined on the panels 4, 10 are identical to each other, sharing the installation positions with their clips. The construction explained above reduces the number of parts, and hence makes parts control easier. Coupled with the same metal mold available, therefore, a drastic cost down can be planned. Since body panel configurations are substantially identical to each car, the common use of jigs and tools, for example, those used for installing inner panels can be designed.
