Abstract

PURPOSE: To obrain cell plate continuously and effectively with a simplified equipment in which forming treatment is made uxing one common power source by setting the concentration of caustic alkali at respective specific values for charging tank and discharging tank.
CONSTITUTION: A cadmium oxide-dominated mixture is first made into a paste and then the paste is coated on a perforated steel strip plate, dried, compressed, and subjected to a continuous forming treatment to obtain a calcium plate. The forming treatment is carried out by passing the serial cadmium negative pole strip 5 through the charging tank 1, the discharging tank 2, the water-washing tank 3, and the drier 4. The charging tank 1 and the discharging tank 2 are provided with the counter electrode 6 connected to the common power source 7. In this case, the concentration of caustic alkali for the forming electrolyte is set to 10% or more for the charging tank 1 and to 5% or less for the discharging tank 2, respectively.
